If I can be mentally brought back to (a) part(s) of the game just by hearing the related track(s), that OST is good enough to be a "favorite" in my book, I suppose.

Some OSTs I go back to every once in a while would be:
Catherine OST
Dreaming Mary OST
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines OST

  • The Persona games

  • The Final Fantasy games (especially everything from 7 and all of the vocal themes from 8-10)

  • The World Ends With You

  • Ocarina of Time has great songs, but they're all really short :(

  • Currently playing Bravely Default, and the best thing about it is its music--which is not a complaint (I didn't want to move on from Florem because I fell in love with that song, lol)

When you've played as many games as I have, the "favorite OST" is not a thing anymore. There are just so many good tracks from so many different games.

The Elder Scrolls games certainly come to mind. Jeremy Soule did amazing work on those.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 had an exceptional orchestral OST.
Mass Effect trilogy OST is just fantastic and emotional through and through.
Last two Deus Ex games... Michael McCann absolutely nailed it!
The Witcher trilogy OST just takes me places...
Bastion is praised for it's jammy OST.
Mirror's Edge and ME: Catalyst were frequent on my playlist as well. They were composed by and very much in recognizable style of Solar Fields.
DOOM... Don't even get me started on DOOM :D
...

No doubt I've left out some fantastic OST's but, as I've mentioned before, there are just too many to list them all here.

I find many very pleasant to listen to even outside of games, but the ones that really stuck with me:
Morrowind's and Oblivion's menu theme
Basically anything from Child of Light.
I do remember Ori and the Blind Forest had great music that was pleasant to listen to, but can't recall it :D

Are Morrowind and Oblivion better soundtracks than Skyrim? I still need to listen those 2.
Can't agree more with Child of Light, her creator really nailed It.

Speaking about main themes only:
Skyrim's theme is momumental, you're the hero who will make the world tremble and kneel before you.
Morrowind's has a certain... wanderlust to it, and I feel a bit of heartache, hard to put my finger on it. I feel like this is the perfect music for scenes or situations that shows off a world waiting to be explored, and you're just taking in the environment.
Oblivion's has some danger to it, parts about (imo) rising to ocassion, but also a lot of gentler tunes.
