After change the possibility to create giveaways with CV value required, will be allowed to create a forum post asking interested with high CV values and decide if invite them or not to enter the giveaway?

I'm... A bit confused at what you mean. Can you try explaining again a bit more clearly?

Pretty sure he means limiting access to giveaways by allowing only people with high CV through forum invites.

that will only promote more CV Abuse... there are so many free games that is given away here just to get CV.

Honestly.. The whole point of this site is to be generous and give away games to others, it doesn't mean spam free games in order to maximize your chances to profit.

That's exactly the point of removing CV. That way, we'll get givers instead of CV hoarders. This decision both has pros and cons.

Pros: No more "why isn't my CV rising" threads, no more free games giveaway spams (which sometimes result in the website going down due to overload).
Cons: AAA giveaways will be slightly rarer due to CV hoarders not caring enough to "waste" their money on something that won't give them anything in return (these are scarce, so shouldn't be such a problem.)

Another major con : No reliable and quick way to create an entry hurdle to reward those who are more generous with their give-aways.

You know, which was sorta the main reason for CV...

Also that, but it's also a one of the main reason why CV is going away.

Games get bundled more and more, the bundle list gets bigger and bigger. One choice would be removing the bundle list entirely, and CV would stay. This decision would as well have it pros and cons, and would affect the website greatly.

As for now, it seems cg has taken the easy way out, and simply removing CV entirely. Is it a good decision? Maybe. Maybe not.
Either way, it's an efficient and easy solution.

Well, you could do that before all the CV system was implemented (by making a private group and invite users with high CV value), so I'd say yes (don't quote me on that!).

It is indeed absolutely possible. The requirements to join a group are all up to the group's owner(s) to decide. Then, group giveaways can be created, and no additional special rules are needed to be applied to the giveaways due to the group's requirement already being the requirement to enter the said giveaway.

Also, you will be able to Whitelist in the new one. Since you assemble the Whitelist yourself, CV can be your requirement. But you have to assemble the list by adding the users yourself.

"Whitelist / Multiple Steam Group Giveaways

The new site has some improvements when it comes to controlling who can enter your giveaways. First off, you can create a giveaway for multiple Steam groups. It's fairly straightforward, you're presented with a list of your Steam groups, and you can select any number of them. Users can enter if they're a member of any group you select.

There's also another addition, called whitelists. You can click a button on user profiles, and add that person to your whitelist. When creating a giveaway, you can select your whitelist in the same way that you select a Steam group. For example, I could create a giveaway for the S.Gifts and S.Trades groups, and also my whitelist. Now, my giveaway is running and I discover John Doe seems like an upstanding member of the community, although he's not a member of my Steam groups. In a simple click, I can add John Doe to my whitelist, and he'll now see my whitelist enabled giveaways on his homepage.

You might be wondering what happens if John Doe enters my giveaway, and I then decide to remove him from my whitelist. In that case, his entry remains valid, since he entered at a time when I gave him permission, and I can't simply invalidate or remove his entry at will."

Whitelist isn't a replacement for CV.

While true, that isn't the question on the table, nor what my answer addressed.

Since you assemble your Whitelist, CV can be the rule you decide for entry onto your list. You do have to manually add each person to your list, but the list you then assemble will be a CV horde list.

But there's no way to find every single person on the site with that amount of CV. And you can only have one whitelist at a time - it's not easy to make adjustments to change CV limits.

Yes, you can still make private giveaways with CV requirement after you ask support for permission.

An easier way would be to request a special giveaway rule approval to support, requiring that the winner must have at least XX.XX CV.
The only problem is that the giveaway must be private.

You will have a White and Black list and can create a white list giveaway to pick who you want to enter it

why do people care about cv, an exploited bs system. show me someone with above 500 who claims to have spent that and you can be sure its a bs lie. I still think CV should be based on lowest ever recorded price, see how many high CV is left then lol. the sooner it goes the better.

I've spent over $500 on giveaways over the last 2.5 years. Just because you can't envision yourself spending that much doesn't make it apply to everyone.
