So I just bought new headphones after having my old, relatively cheap Philips headset for over half a decade. It isn't dead really, but the left side needs to be fidgeted around a fair bit every time I move because it loses connection.
So the new ones I got are Sony headphones. First time I've had wireless headphones as well, so I'm pretty excited. Currently it's charging in the charging dock that I've placed on my computer case.

I'm a dummy, so I didn't really ask people for any advice on my purchase (I still have 14 days to return it, no questions asked). I guess now's as good a time as any to ask you all what brand of headphones do you use? Also, if the answer's different for it, then what brand do you recommend the most? How much did you pay for your headphones approximately?

EDIT: Through some Googling, I found out what headset I've been using so far: Philips SHG8000

Do you use headphones?

I only use headphones with my computer.
I mainly use headphones, but I also use speakers every once in a while.
I use headphones and speakers equally.

I don't have any sound output on my computer.

Sennheiser HD 598. And I am very, very satisfied.
I always used Sennheiser for Gaming Headsets because they always had the best microphones although their speakers were lacking in sound. But this changed in the last years and the quality of their speakers got way better.

If you don't need a microphone and want to go for superior sound while listening to music etc I would recommend you Beyer Dynamic. Their sound surpasses Sennheiser but their price curve is quite steep.

I use some old JVC Gummi earbuds (bought for about $10 at Walmart). I bought some newer ones recently since I lost one of the rubber ear pieces, but seems the new ones are lower quality then my old ones so I just kept the parts I needed.

I've tried a few other headsets before, all were all about the same or worse up until roughly $200-300 range, and I'm too cheap to pay that much for headphones :p

I have and did use for a time Pioneer headphones. I loved sound of them.. They just have flimsy build quality. I have the 2 pairs of similar Pioneer headsets and both have broken in a place or two. Oldest ones have broken in 10 pieces already,
But that might be just me - I drive around alot and sadly havent paid the most attention to my accessories and laptop so all of them are somewhat broken
Usually I had an old stereo system plugged in my computer. Those old bulky ones. Probably around 20 years old. But gave out good sound. Then I moved, didnt bother with setting it up and now Im mostly on the built in shit speakers of my philiphs monitor. Now and then I connect it to my bluetooth JBL speaker (small one, meant for outside backpacking) but thats only when I play something with friends and we have a call going on.

And yeah, I cant not mention Sennheiser as well. Havent owned them myself, but a friend of mine (whose a musician) once bought them when we where on a trip together and I tried them out one evening. That was beautiful experience..

I'm a huge fan of headphones even though i also have a soundbar for when there are friends here and we play together. So far, i've had over a couple dozen different models and brands. I started a long time ago with a simple pair of Sony MDX series, before switching to a couple of crappy cheap headsets. Then my first actual headset was the great Creative Fatal1ty, a very cheap headset with nice drivers even though the build quality was subpar.
Then i got the Steelseries Siberia headset, which was awesome for gaming. Crisp microphone, sturdy metal frame and decent plastic, fake leather cups and good insulation. It seemed that grenades were actually going off in my room. The V2 model is even better.
Later on i sold the Siberia and got the Beats Solo. Afwul headphones, full of creaky plastic and way too much V-shaped, with an overmuffled sound because of their aggressive bass. The left driver just broke after 6 months because reasons. Fucking Beats.
After the Beats i wanted to switch over some more professional brands, so i've got the Audio Technica ATH-M20X paired with a Zalman clip microphone. Build quality was way better than Apple's, but soundwise they were pretty flat and uninteresting. Good for listening to some more relaxed genres, but not electronic music. Sold them and bought the Sennheiser HD 4.20s, while having a backup pair of Superlux HD681 Evo. Both headphones were all around pretty good choices.
Currently i own a HyperX Cloud headset for general use on PC and a Sony Gold Wireless 2018 headset for gaming on PS4 and i love them both, especially the Cloud. Crisp audio, not even excessive in the bass frequencies, built with a resistant metal frame, light and very comfortable even after hours. It's probably my favourite choice so far, even if i remember the Siberia with a nostalgic vibe.

For gaming on PC I use the HyperX Cloud Alpha (62 euro)
For traveling and such, on mobile, I use the Skull Candy Ink'D mint (15 euro)
For everything else, on PC, I use the Technics SB-F2 with Scarlett Solo MK2 and some old LG subwoofers (two of them) with a DVD player to power the speakers. (got the speakers from dad, he bought them when they came out, the scarlett solo mk2 was 83 euro)

i use some AKG DJ headphones, only for music and instrument playing, and seldom.
I don't like them, they are uncomfortable on the long run, but didn't not realize it upon buying.
earphones just for phone and conference calls.
for pc games, speakers. unfortunately my surround system is in another room, so what I use are technically bullshit speakers...
for console games, TV speakers or some gaming headphones which firm I don't recall. seldom through the surround system.

I have a natural preference for wired things. I hate it when I'm in the middle of doing something and the batteries die. So I use wired controllers, keyboard, mouse, even power tools.

That said, I have had a wireless headset before. I hated it. It wasn't so much because of the battery issue, it was more about the sound just dropping for no reason every so often. It used bluetooth and for whatever reason it would not stay reliably connected to my PC. I sold a laptop and tried to give the wireless headset away with it, and the buyer wouldn't take it even for free. So I threw it away. It bothered me that much.

These days I use a wired Logitech headset. The sound is great. I can tell exactly where a sound is coming from while playing CS:GO, for example. The mic is clear and works well. There are more expensive headsets, but for $35 I'm very happy with the set I have.

I'm using Bose...AE2s, I think. I didn't choose them--they were a birthday present, so my mother did. However, the main reason she picked them was because my previous pair--Skullcandy something-or-other--had snapped on both sides, even though I'm not particularly rough with my headphones. I just went to put them on as normal, and crack. (Taped them up and kept using them until the right side went out completely.) So she went up to the display at the store, literally tried to break the Bose by forcing the headband straight, and they didn't even creak.

As far as comfort/sound isolation goes, I much preferred the Skullcandys (they had a tighter/stiffer fit, so the pressure was around my ears instead of on the top of my head like the Bose, which also meant they blocked more sound), and I never noticed any difference in actual sound quality. But I can't really complain, because I've had the Bose for 7+ years and other than the earpads flaking and having to be resewn a couple of times, they're still in perfect working order.

Koss Porta Pros! They're light, cheap, adjustable, and they sound pretty darn good as well. I also have some Boss noise cancellation headphones for flying. They make a huge difference—I can game or watch movies with the sound turned to the minimum.
