Is it over for humble bundle?
Putting aside HB shitty practices and my inability to understand key hoarding and stockpiling (at least copy/paste in a spreadsheet immediately ffs), is it REALLY needed to necro all the HB threads?

Considering I still haven't got my keys for 2024 april bundle, almost a year ago, I'd like to get some info when can I actovate my games. Because Humble doesn't message me about that one, despite having two or three waves of keys sent out before.
(And not as a jab, but genuinely : hiding bundles you don't have to do anything about is an option)

That's fine, but necroing years old threads just to say keys aren't available doesn't seem very useful.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes it is useful. People will know if the keys are revoked or removed, even months or years later when they look at those threads.
Tbh, I don't understand people who choose not to have information because they might feel momentary disturbance due to necro of old threads.

AFAIK nobody is talking about removed or revoked keys here: that would be good to know even if unfortunately you couldn't do much against it. From my understanding we are talking about the inability to get the get keys altogether as in i click the reveal button and I get shafted.
If that's not the case then I got it all wrong and disregard everything I've written.
there's two scenarios:
I left the keys unrevealed or were already unavailable and didn't check in a while or ever, now I'm informed said keys are restocked: good to know, I can act on that info.
I left the keys unrevealed or were already unavailable and didn't check in a while or ever, now I'm informed said keys are still or again unavailable: I can't act on that info like I couldn't/wouldn't before reading it.
Other than getting me all pissy about HB and IGN shitty TOS (nothing new really), the latter seems useless to me but I'm genuinely trying to understand.

I believe the idea is that the pool of keys are separate between the store and what is in the monthly/choice/bundle. I am not sure how it works exactly, but I assume that HB gets keys through some bulk purchase in order to profit from a sell from the store, whereas the keys for the monthly/choice/bundle could be donated via charity or some other deal. So keys from monthly/choice/bundle that are likely to be replenished would be ones that reappear in a future bundle/choice.

The bundles and store keys are purchased in bulk under different contracts, and thus are not interchangeable.
Humble wont restock keys for bundles unless there's a sufficient number of people who try to redeem them past the allotted amount, otherwise they wouldn't be able to justify the bulk purchase amount necessary to keep their profit margins.

Flat Kingdom Paper's Cut Edition, Domina - Jumbo Bundle 11
Savage Lands - Humble Survive This Bundle (Due to a publisher change for this title, we are no longer able to provide Steam keys)
GRID Autosport Road & Track Car Pack - Humble Codemasters Bundle (Keys are temporarily exhausted - they won't be replenished since GRID Autosport was removed from the store)
to those who are saying that you're stupid not to redeem everything asap, i also had a Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time key that i had bought in august of 2019, then they pulled the game entirely from the store in november of that year, and when i went to redeem it around that time, i got the "keys temporarily exhausted" message, kept checking every year, until i requested a refund last year when it was more than enough time for them to just publicly come out and refund everyone that had bought it
EDIT - found another one (but apparently this was at least a year and a half ago):
BROFORCE - November 2016 Monthly (These keys are no longer available. We apologize for the inconvenience!)

Yeah BROFORCE is an older issue, can't remember when i first noticed it. I brought a number of things to their attention back then and i didn't get any clear answer, only a partial refund for various things. Well, i didn't even get the refund in the end, maybe it's because they mentioned an amount in dollars and i use euros on humble. I have to contact them about that again...

Consortium
from Humble Weekly Bundle: RPG Edition - Book I (2014)
It says in the list of keys for that bundle:
"Keys for this title are no longer available. We apologize for the inconvenience."
I revealed and activated the key back then, for the other games of that bundle aswell. The other keys still show up in the list as normal. Not sure if that means that if I tried to activate the key that was revealed back then (and is not visible anymore), it would not activate?

Revealed key now hidden on Humble doesn't mean that the key no longer works.
One example is Railroad Corporation, said to be expired since Dec 2024, but I still got a working key in trade (and grey market's prices are still low, meaning the keys should still be working). Same with Milky Way, and Tabletop Playground.
A counter example would be Paratopic, which still has keys in stock, but turns out duplicated when I revealed and tried activating the key a day or two ago.
So it's best to give the key a try before throwing it away.

Well this is definitely ugly! I purchased astronauts from them only to find out they were "out of stock" AFTER I gave them my money but they did get it back in stock a week later or some such. Annoying, but not fatal. This however makes me deeply question my library of games I haven't gotten around to activating.

Here's a few from me. These have been out of stock since either late November or early December, since that's why I went through all my bundles and redeemed keys. I checked today and they're still giving the "Keys are temporarily exhausted for this product" message unless indicated otherwise:
Humble Monthly December 2015
Humble Monthly November 2016
There are two messages for Broforce: "ATTENTION: We have run out of Steam keys for BROFORCE. We are getting more ASAP. We will have Steam keys for you as soon as they are available again!" and "These keys are no longer available. We apologize for the inconvenience!"
Sierra Bundle
Survive This Bundle
"Due to a publisher change for this title, we are no longer able to provide Steam keys. Please contact Customer Support for more information!"
Weekly Bundle: RPG Edition – Book I
"Keys for this title are no longer available. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Weekly Sale: 1C Company
One positive from all this, I discovered I'd somehow missed the Humble Monthly Bundle for August 2017. I'd redeemed some of the keys previously, but there were four I hadn't. And surprisingly I'd previously marked Wuppo as removed from the bundle entirely, but it was there again and gave me a working key.

I gave my "Hunting Simulator 2" key to my friend few weeks ago and it says already used. It was interesting because I just redeemed via HB website.
It was bundled a bit more than 3 years ago. Do you think same thing happen? Should I ask replacement key?

If the game is from a bundle years ago, I don't think they will be able to help you.

Because it's only specific games from humble choice rather than all humble choice games, I'm wondering if this is something coming from certain publishers. If this was Humble implementing it, why wouldn't they do it for all keys after a certain time limit, instead of seemingly random games? I know publishers have previously tried to get keys revoked if they sold them a long time ago, and they've also been successful in the past.
Personally, I'm fine with the practice of having keys expire as long as it's communicated ahead of time, but it's essentially theft if you change the rules of a purchase after the fact.

My point is that I have some keys that are over 5 years old and they are still available, but I have a 4 year old key that says "Sorry, can't redeem after 3 years"
Comment has been collapsed.
yeah i get that. the thing is i don't think they care. maybe they use that notice for any game that they ran out of keys for, and more will follow. since they seemingly overbooked them and are only now realising that it's not sustainable to keep restocking them
Comment has been collapsed.
They use a different notice for when keys run out, so it's definitely a different mechanism

To add: I don't have certain proof of this, because they don't answer emails (at least they didn't answer mine), but the large publisher HypeTrain Digital, based in Cyprus, looked like they were experimenting with quietly revoking unused Humble Choice keys after a year. They are the publisher for Golden Light, Black Book, and DESOLATE, all three of which had unused Choice keys revoked. I hope there was enough gamer response - I know I did mine, even if they didn't answer it! - that they decided maybe it wasn't worth it in the long run. Still, I don't trust 'em and won't in future.

Got a response from Humble that they are reverting the change
"We appreciate your patience on this.
I just received an updated from our team that the issue has been reverted. Our internal team is now working to bring back the status of the expired keys.
Rest assured that once it's done, you will definitely redeem it but regarding with the time frame, we don't have any exact information about that.
You understanding is much appreciated and if you have any other concerns, please let us know."

This is why I think the change was pushed by a publisher. Humble doesn't make any money off of this. They already sold the games, whether you redeem it or not doesn't matter. Only the publisher would make money off of this, by limiting the number of keys available and getting people to buy their game outside of a bundle.
Comment has been collapsed.
that would make sense. there's been a few publishers that actively revoked keys (Mana Spark comes to mind). but in that case, there was no notice and i don't think humble even removed those keys. maybe some publishers are contacting humble directly to do that, others just revoke them and go on about their day.

Some of the games with the message or even removed from bundle pages entirely are definitely due to publishers mass-revoking unused keys. (Some examples: Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, Pixel Piracy, and Pitiri 1977)

my entire December 2020 page isn't available, i've been subbed since 2016. I'm gonna have to start looking at all my keys. Recently I became homeless & I had to come up with money for a deposit, used a bunch of old keys in promotions so that was my saving grace.

Humble has reverted the expiration status on Lovecraft's Untold Stories
Don't know if they've done it for every game, but at least the one I opened a ticket about was fixed

I just saw reddit topic "Humble expiring keys instead of replenishing?" and I was very worried as I think I have some keys left there. Anyone here observed an incident yet?
