Elite Dangerous or Kerbal Space Program seem solid! My best friend has played +300h of Kerbal

Personally looking forward to No Man Sky's, but I also personally wouldn't want to buy it as soon as it releases.

I actually really enjoy it on my own, but it does get kind of boring, since there is no real goal (well, except for building a capital vessel, which takes quite a while to even get started on). But if you ever want to play a survival game, this one is really good.

Elite Dangerous is on sale and looks great (seen it streamed many times).
Subnautica I own and play, and that's a wonderful & fun game (also on sale). The devs are extremely active and always adding new content. :)
It's a lot of exploring and base-building, but as it's done on an alien world and underwater, it's a relatively new spin on the survival genre.

Well, if you want high action, GTAV is, actually, not a bad bet.
I'd say PAYDAY 2, but it turned into an endless cash sink which thinks players are money cows begging to be milked.
Thre are of course always CoD and Battlefield. I'd say you need to survive their player base, but they cannot show anything that much worse than CS:GO. And as console kiddie shooters, they are accessible, have fast matches, and require only a medium amount of skill.
If you don't mind the TPS route, Mass Effect 3 and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron MP should still be alive.
If you have a console, Destiny, after like another ten million spent on it, finally doesn't completely suck ass and it is a capable console shooter/MMO hybrid.

My gaming interest aren't shared on your wishlist. But your welcome to look at my library. Any game in my library with over 50 hours I'd recommend. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197996084333/games/
One quality game I like to recommend to people who like "action" is the arpg Path of Exile. 100% free to play and not play to win.
If you decide to install it, get on the forums and decide if you want to install through your steam account or not.
PoE can be as passive or as complicated/strategic as you want it to be, has pvp, mp and sp.
Good Luck.
