I've been put on some banlists, and I never encountered a GA that I couldn't enter due to it. So there is that.

As for the reasons people on SG banlist someone, they seem partially weird, partially funny (e.g. I got banlisted several times apparently for having made too many public GAs ending at the same time), and partially can be understandable, such as when someone won hundreds of games from public GAs and the GAs they made themselves were only in closed groups.

the nice thing of the android client is that you don't access to the blacklist indicator. so it has been ages since I checked mine. and it's great! really, the idea of being in someone blacklist is the single most forgettable bit of information in SG ;P

Most often I was blacklisted when I recommended to delete giveaways with a non-Steam keys, which are out of the site rules

Don't worry about a few backlists, they happen. With a community the size of SG you're likely to be able to rub "someone" the wrong way pretty easily. Looking at your profile, it might just be down to either your ratio (3 won, 0 given) or someone got really jealous about how many games you've won in such a short timespan. Some of us have to wait months between winning something! Being lucky is of course not against the site rules.

There are also a fare few unspoken rules that have developed over time on this site, as is the case with any community, so that can trip someone up. Like say copy/pasting thanks messages in every giveaway you join is likely to annoy people who view it as spam. No rule against it, but if you have say 15 giveaways open and a bunch of people decide to just copy/paste a generic Thanks message in every giveaway they join (and they join a bunch each) that quickly adds up.

You will get plenty of blacklists for daring to make a thread about blacklists. People are funny. I've not been too active recently because of my health, but I still managed to win a BL or two in that time. Shit happens hahaha.

One rule. Don't thank people in giveaways. Say thank you only if you win. That's the general etiquette. The reason for it is that people use bots to thank in everything they enter and the creator gets tons and tons of messages saying the same thing. I haven't blacklisted for it, but I can't say I wasn't annoyed when I created 30 public GAs at once and the same bot messages were across all of them from the same few people. XD.

There are sooooo many wonderful people on this website. Don't worry about a few Blacklists.

Maybe I'm not yet cynical because I'm new, but I really don't mind the thank yous, even botted ones. I don't thank people for giveaways because I'm a horrible human being and would rather be lazy than communicate, but I guess that resulted in no blacklists in my case?

I'm only on a few of blacklists, but all of them were from times were I was less active on the site lol. Sometimes people do it for no reason other than they are salty they didn't win your giveaway.

Have another WL from me. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason for blacklists 'round here, as I'm sure you gathered by now.

I think some people blacklisted me after I suspended them for inactivated wins. No way of checking as BLs are not visible. But most of the time it was correlated to times when I had some time to sit down and check bigger batches of users.

There are so many people here making GAs it doesn't matter you're in a couple or few hundred BLs.

It matters if the person gives away a lot, like around a thousand. I won many of my gifts from the well-known super generous gifters here.

Those people are generally not the type to get suspended though.

Regular thing? I don't know.
It's their right though.
I'm guessing it probably has something to do with the fact that in 1 week you won 4 PUBLIC ga's but created 2 WHITELISTED ones. Many people doesn't view it as fair, me included. I believe that if you are not going to give at least half of your games to the public in general, then don't enter public ga's. There are a lot of people here that create only group; private or whitelist ga's. Why can they participate in mine when they go out of their way to exclude me? You know what I mean?
I haven't blacklisted you. You have been here for a week. I feel I can't judge you based on anything. But the way you do things will surely dictate whether you get blacklisted by others in the future or not. It's possible you pissed off someone with your comments too.
I blacklist whoever I want and don't feel guilty about it. I don't think it's about being toxic or anything. Most people don't really care about it.
I usually blacklist racists and homophobes and hateful people. And let's not forget the leechers.

Dude, did you read all my message?
I just told you I didn't judge you. But that it might have been why others blacklisted you.
You are making me regret already.

my friend was blacklisted for asking about the blacklist. Be careful. I add to the blacklist only for a good reason. for example, not activating my gift for a very long time. Once a person activated a key, but did not mark it as received. I asked why? he said he didn't need the game, but he didn't ask Reroll asking for a new winner, I found out that the key had already been activated. as a result, this person got on my blacklist. and deservedly so. I can't understand people adding to the blacklist for possible reasons: they didn't like my avatar or nickname, the list of my giveaways or victories - envy or non-attachment to such banal things is an unworthy reason for the Blacklist. I understand that this tirade will be the reason for getting into WL, but it was worth it🀣
