Just wondering, what major cities do you live closest to, and how far is it? Do you know if other SG:ers live nearby and have you ever met any of them? If not, would you like to if given the opportunity, and what would be your "dream date" if so?

For me, Stockholm is the closest major city. I live about 1 hour north of it. Only know of Fnord that lives there, and never met him. I think he's a fellow board game geek. So if I ever met him, it would probably be to do a gaming session. :)

I actually think, that I already live in a major city as it's the state capital, next to another state capital, but the largest known city around here would be Frankfurt.

Philadelphia. I live about 70 miles north of it. Never met anyone from SG but I see two other mention of Philly in the conversation so far. Dream date would be going to a Phillies game. Love my floundering Phills :-P

Depends on how fast you're going.
The average speed limit in the US is 65-70 mph (104.5 - 112.5 kph), so about 200-210 miles (321 - 338 kilometers).

Greetings from Amsterdam, which in population and overall size is not as 'major' as some of the others mentioned, but it's influence extends quite far. Moved here 8 years ago, no clue who else is from the Dam on SG, must be a number of people I wager.

What counts as a major city in this case? My city has around 300k inhabitants and it's a provincial capital, is that enough? If you need at least half a million I guess then it would be Asunción in Paraguay(I'm Argentinian but it's reasonably close), and if it needs to be over a million then Buenos Aires(1000 km away), it doesn't get any larger than BA without leaving the south cone.
And no, I've never met any SGer IRL.

Ain't no thing. It's university educational consulting, so essentially helping Chinese high school students enter into universities abroad. Been some kind of teacher for about a decade now, so it feels like a natural off-shoot. Did you live there already? I only spent 10 hours in Beijing so hopefully it's not total shit.

One thing I've noticed about SG is that a lot of people feel comfortable with sharing personal info and details. Not THAT personal, but really - I could probably create a stalker spreadsheet with everyone's age, birth date, country of residence, nearest city, and even picture of them (selfie thread). I did say I could. Don't worry, I won't.

Probably due to the fact that SG feels "friendly" so most of us tend to be more trusting of fellow users.
