Nowadays, alongside the official thread outlining the bundle rules, a working knowledge of the forum search function should help you discover a veritable cornucopia of identical threads, and startlingly similar answers...

Games which have been in bundles or otherwise made widely available at little or no cost are added to the bundle list. Games in this list will not add more than 20% (1/5) of your non-bundle contributions, disregarding the first $25. For more detailed information, see this thread.

In order to receive any additional value from your current bundle gifts, partial or otherwise, you will need to contribute more in non-bundle games.

Bobo's right, I bought the humble bundle cause I wanted to raise my CV by a bit, didn't know about the 20% thing but I think it's perfectly justifiable on their part. Keeps people from cheesing their way to a bajillion CV.

That's still being too nice imo for people who can't read the FAQs. I mean, they're in a sticky post! You can't miss it! And I've never seen the OP actually comment back in their threads..what a waste. You should just introduce them to QQ Cat

To be fair, it's really not that easy to find.

If you go to the FAQ, you'll see "What does the asterisk (*) mean beside a game on the Create a Giveaway list?"... which doesn't really say anything about contributor value, so someone with a CV problem will glance over this.

You really have to go to FAQ, Site Guidelines, Comment Formatting & User Add-ons -> FAQ and Guidelines -> Official CG Announcements (which is tucked between translations and base rules) -> Important Updates to Contributor Values and Bundle Games. It's kind of a difficult thing to find an answer for on your own.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah. Can't it be made easier? Like at the "create a giveaway"-page?

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

When someone has an issue with their CV, they don't go to the create a giveaway page. A "?" link next to the CV on the profiles would be best.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That too. I just feel it would also be great to inform people before they actually create the giveaway.
Or, a small warning on the "comfirm your giveaway"-page saying something like "You will not get full contributor value for gifting this Bundle Game". the more places the information is at, the better, I'd say.

The * has also been mentioned on the giveaway creation page for a while, complete with a link to the explanation. If they don't want to read up on something when it tells them to, they have only themselves to blame.

Just do a lot more giveaways and your CV will go up in no time. I heard people want Skyrim. A few of those and....

For sure. About six copies of Skyrim Legendary Edition should do the trick.

i just realized, that TC wants to give away games for selfish reasons...which kinda defeats the whole purpose of giving away something.

I won a game on steam gifts which was in a giveaway at the time then, as I checked my email and steam messages for the guy he was so desperate to give me the key, he got worried I wasn't going to respond and was so desperate for cv, I didn't even want to accept the gift but, at least he wont get a lot from it :)

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Haha, you really expected to spend $1 on the bundle and get $100 of CV? You didn't think there would be a system to prevent abuse?

Did you see when you made a giveaway: *"Wondering about the asterisk () next to certain games? Click here to learn more."** It's right above the box where you select your game :P

You must give away 60 copies of Skyrim on the forums. Only then, will the righteous power of the CV be bestowed upon you.

I always laugh when I see someone post these I just like it when someone only puts giveaway games for cv then gets mad for not getting the full amount.

1 decade ago
Permalink

So you only spent $1 (I seriously doubt you actually beat the average since you seem to have only been interested in CV) and you're complaining about how you only got 10x that amount in credit.
