Hello fellow steamgifters

I installed Amenesia A Dark Descent and found out after launching it that it does not have controller support. Is there a way to play it with the Controller. I have problem with my wrists that I can not keep them on the Keyboard and Mouse to play without getting into a lot of pain. That is why I have to use a controller (doesn't hurt my hands even after playing continuously for 3-4 hrs.) I don't know if it is very strange or not, but it is what it is.

I did hear about the Joy2Key thing, installed that also. but could not understand how to map the keys to the different buttons. Tried to watch tutorials, but couldn't find one that would show the easy way for it (I know I am gonna get a lot of heat for this that I am a noob at googling and stuff like that).

Please help. I promise to make a giveaway or two specifically for this thread, if and when the problem is solved for me and would invite only the people who would help (or atleast genuinely try to help). Don't have a lot of money, so can't promise huge giveaways, but will try to take a survey to find out which game to give away to give atleast everybody a chance.

Thanks a lot

EDIT

I am already letting you guys know what the giveaway will be for:

Try Xpadder. I found it a bit easier to understand how to program.

JoyToKey does as well. I've used it for FPS games.

However, I found setting up the 360 pad triggers for Aim and Fire to be a pain, because they null each other.

Oh, I know that. It is Axis 3 in JoyToKey after all. :P

Just that it sucks, since I prefer that for aiming. I can use toggle Right Stick, but that is more annoying.

It doesn't? I just tried Joy2Key and it allows binding mouse to the analog stick, although I don't think it's very comfortable.

This. I installed Xpadder a few days ago, so that I could play Legacy of Kain with the xbox controller. It is working well and was quite easy to set.

Well I'm not familiar with the joy2key program myself, but if you can wait, you could just grab a Steam Controller when they come out. They'll support every game in the Steam library, supposedly. Honestly, that's what I'd do, just wait it out.

Seconding xpadder, it's way more user friendly than joy2key.

And my sympathies on the wrist problem, I have back issues that keep me from sitting at a desk for long stretches so I totally know how it is.

I have problems for my left hand hand that prevent me from using the keyboard seriously for gaming.

If you need help with JoyToKey, I've got most of it figured out myself, just never found the DPad stuff.

For DPad, there is "Use POV switches" option.

I've tried that before, but it didn't trigger anything when using the gamepad. Pain in the arse.

What controller do you use? The one I got is Logitech F310.

Wired 360 pad that came with a launch system.

I'd suggest x360ce, the emulator of a 360 pad used with games that don't support pads (for example, usb generic ones)
There's a customized GUI (program that shows you which button is which when you press them). Google it and try it out, it may be just the thing for you! :D

After you install Xpadder 3.5 freeware and set compatibility mode to windows vista so it will run on New PC's, copy/paste the xpadder config file from the relevant thread on Steam.
