Don't know if you've heard but Harvest Moon's creator is making a new game Birthdays the Beginning - despite an awful title it seems to be an interesting game (maybe not strictly about farming but still).

Definitely something else then Harvest Moon, but still looks interesting.
Wishlisted for ducks (Ducks and Dino's?).
Castaway Paradise also has some farming (looks very like Animal Crossing) only played it a small bit though, need to get back into it.

Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland was the first console video game I played, over my cousin's house on her ps2. I can't remember who I romanced (I don't think I ever got that far) but I have visceral memories of everything else - the maps, the sfx, the music, the animations...

I don't remember if there was marriage and stuff in Save the Homeland, the only noticeable thing is that each girl you'd romance would get a different ending. I guess I was a teen already by the time it released, but it made part of my youth.

Definitely! Stardew Valley is absolutely fantastic, hope the winner will get as much joy out of it as I did. :)
The other games look cute too, but looking at their reviews they both seem to have lots of issues atm. o:

I haven't played any Harvest Moon games, but Stardew Valley has had my eye ever since release for the simple fact that it clearly offers an almost identical, or at the very least similar, experience.
