oh my gosh, I found out that the artwork’s official name is “Saved by the Whale’s Tail", and it wasn't changed recently, it was named that originally in 2002. the artist is a damn oracle

What if the artist had a vision of the subway crash 20 years in the future and made this sculpture to prevent it?
By the way the car art reminds me of this one that I saw in Bordeaux, France, a Jaguar going through a building.

The whale tails look like they were placed there just in case of such a failure, but to also be aesthetically pleasing all the same.

When I first saw photos of that, I thought the train was actually part of the sculpture, and not saved from a nasty fall by the sculpture.

We had quite a unique accident here in Holland the other day and cause it reminded me of one of the stops in my Randstad Rail event, I am posting about it just to show the pics. :)
A metro train that overran the stop blocks at a station outside Rotterdam has been left balancing 10 metres above ground on the plastic tail of a whale sculpture.

The Dutch news story also linked to an actual work of art that looks like a BMW crashed through a high wall (pics below). Apparently it's pretty convincing, people stop when they see it.
