I have over 50 now and never use them, but I figure Why Not?

I am new to Borderlands 2 so i didn't knew that's why i wrote like that :P

They aren't required. Just an easier way to get some nice equipment if you wish to use them. You can still find the same equipment normally.

the weapons you get are only relevant for maybe a few levels if you happen to get anything useful in the first place and end game you can get way better than purple

A code you can in within the Borderlands 2 game to get a Golden Key item, which is used to unlock a unique chest which has high quality equipment within.

A code that you can redeem inside Borderlands 2 for free items. Usually it gives Golden keys that open a special chest with loot. However, on Halloween they released codes that unlocked some new costumes for your characters.

They did that one before. We don't need a repeat of that, people taking a bunch of codes to trade / use here, while people who want to use them missed out.
