How are entries counted when You "buy in" a giveaway?

Is is like a lottery ticket when You are given a certain number or does it not matter?

Also, if I remove my entry later on only to use points for a giveaway that ends sooner and later on enter back in the beforementioned giveaway, does this change Your chances of winning? Can someone enlighten me on this?

From the FAQ (a bit long, but totally worth looking at):

How are giveaway winners selected?
All giveaway entries are treated equally, and when a giveaway ends, the site will randomly select a winner. [...]

So, the moment you enter the giveaway does not affect at all your chances of winning.
