I won my first game on this site 3 days ago, but have not yet been emailed the game. I was wondering what the etiquette is as far as pestering the person giving the game away. My email address is up-to-date and I do understand that not everyone is glued to their PC during the holidays. On the other hand, the gifter has been online within the past 24 hours and the two other games he was gifting at the same time as he posted the one I won, have both been claimed.

Sometimes you can add the person and say hi or send them an email.

This is my recommended approach. I won a giveaway recently and the person had sent it as a Steam gift to my email 3 days prior. For some reason Steam didn't let me know when I logged in nor did they send the email to me. Once I contacted the person he sent it as a gift directly to my Steam account and I got the game immediately

This happened with a giveaway that I created a couple days ago. I sent the gift to the email provided, through the steam gifting process, but the winner didn't get a notification about it. I was sitting there wondering if they were going to mark it as received or not, so I went to my inventory & saw that the game hadn't yet been claimed. About half a day later, they added me on steam, I put the game back in my inventory, and then sent it to them directly.

Thanks everybody. I will wait until after Jan 1 then send him an email. I'm not that impatient, and the game isn't that great, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a step in collecting a win.

You also might want to double check the giver's comments on the giveaway page as well. Sometimes people prefer to give keys over Steam instead of email, so you may need to add him as a friend.

I thought abut that, but the gifter specifically said "check your email..."

Check your spam folder - sometimes games go there for no reason...

I've found that ones that have 'You've won' or 'Winner' in the message subject go to spam/junk folder automatically because the filter filters out win/won/winner (all that spam mail for you've won an Apple iPad / won $25000 etc.) Emails that just contain a key go to my junk as well because it looks 'suspicious'.

I'd say it's not 'for no reason' it's just the presets for the filter that's all.

Why not? It's usually a good idea to remind them to send the game after a couple of days.
