Sorry for the noob question, I clicked on the FAQ and didn't see an answer?

I was curious, does gifting give you entry Points somehow? It just seems like a slow trickle before and after?

Gifting doesn't give you points, it gives you "Contribution value". It allows you to join giveaways requiring a specific contribution value, chosen by the creator.

Clicking on the FAQ is a good idea, search for "points" and read the part entitled "What's with these points?"

edit: Just in case, also take a look at "*What does the asterisk () mean beside a game on the Create a Giveaway list?**"

Actually, reading the whole FAQ might not be a bad idea, might save you time and/or frustration later. But you should get a gold star for even looking for a FAQ in the first place, many new people don't bother...

Thanks, I see in that thread someone said it might be the solution to some problems. How was it creating problems that people were giving away bundle keys that they didn't want? That's what I just did, it wasn't my kind of game, I wasn't trying to cheat a system or anything, just trying to give the game to someone who could appreciate it.

Some people on here view higher contributor value as a way to get entries into giveaways with higher contributor value requirements (less people are able to enter these giveaways >>> better chance of winning), and therefore seek to increase contributor value.

Since bundles cost a lot less than the worth of the games in it, if this system wasn't in place, someone could easily buy a lot of bundles and give them away to get a higher contributor value. And for that same reason, that bundles cost less than the games' worth, it'd make sense for individual bundle games given away to represent in contributor value how much the giveaway creator paid.
