I bought a Humble Choice for June and I saw, that I paid 0 EUR. I checked my card, it's correct - free. WTF, I thought. I told my friend to buy this month too, same thing. What is happening here?

Bummed I missed this, this was the first month in a long, long time I was genuinely considering buying. Oh well. Glad those quick enough to jump on it get to keep their keys :)

Excess monhtly credits should be now gone, can someone confirm?

Confirmed by my source:

  • unredeemed gift links are invalid,
  • stacked credits (previously obtained by redeeming gift links) have been removed so that only 1 credit remains June's bundle was obtained for free.

1 credit remains as in they'll get July for free? My friend had stacked credits but got reset to zero.

Didn't they already get June for free?

Yes but in the comment I replied to, he said 1 credit remains. So it sounds like they got June + July?

That would be weird IMO, because then some people would get two months for free and others only one. I'm thinking HB allows everyone who was lucky enough 1 credit total. If they already redeemed that credit for June, it's gone, if not, they can still use it.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant that they got June with 1 free credit, as originally intended by IGN.

See somebody sharing Warhammer boltgun removed from his account in discord.
Dunno what's happeneds, didn't they send emails saying people can keep those games?

I'm wondering if the games that are being removed were obtained from traders who got several copies of the bundle when it was glitched.

Comment has been collapsed.

No idea. I remember that they send an email to people that they can keep games. But most probably they tracked those who take 2+ gift links, and use ban.hsmmer in those
Already read here about a few ones taking 20+ gifts links, si yeh, probably those are getting removed the games

In a few hours we will know, lots here take that bundle. If most people comes back saying they lost the games, it's cause HB changed "their mind", but that would be the worst propaganda ever

No, they said people can keep 1 of the free months. Not make hundreds of accounts and redeem thousands of games. They said that wont happen. People got the games on their main. Then they made another acc, and another, and another, and tried to get more. They were never going to honor those.

All 8 games I got from someone that gave me a gift link got removed from my account, so I guess so? I did buy (because accepting the gift-link unpaused my monthly without letting me know) the bundle and gave away all the keys and so far I don't think the legit bought keys are being revoked.

Wow I really hope this is a bug because otherwise this is a new low for Humble -_-

Legacy of Kain was removed from my account :/

It seems like the keys acquired through gift links are being revoked, but not the ones for people who 'bought' the bundle directly due to the bug

Makes sense. You could generate unlimited gift links with ease, no hassle at all. I imagine this is what most of the people that were abusing it did. Creating multiple alt accounts to buy it directly takes far more time. Easiest way for humble to deal with the situation is to revoke all gift links and any steam keys associated with them

It's not exactly fair to say it was removed from the free choice, it's removed from the extra accounts people weren't supposed to make. Humble clearly said they'll honor 1 month. Not 1 user making 100 accounts and humble honoring 1 month for each acc. It was 1 month for that user. Likely they'll get banned now though for exploiting it.

The people who took the deal once as stated wont have this problem.

My guess is:
If someone make purchase or gift for one month it stayed. But if someone bought more then one Choice giftlinks or bought 1 giftlink but also bought a bundle then it was revoked. Stayed only first free buy (no matter it if was giftling or just bought Choice). But we will se how it ends.

To be honest it would be fair - but only if they would analyse new account opened only for this occasion.

Ps. But people who giveaway these games will have problem (or their winner).

How is it fair when some people got it for free and most people paid to get the same bundle. So if someone exploited it just a little bit it is fair, but if they exploited it more than that it is unfair.
I can't see anything fair about double standards. It can be "acceptable" but it is definitely not fair.

It is more or less fair. Fair would be also revoking everything (I thought it will be a case when saw this mistake), but they decided to acknowledge their mistake. But there was also people who overused this mistake with >=20 free giftlinks. Now it is more or less fair as these abused promotion is not in force anymore only one "buy" which is more or less similar to other price errors (but I know that difference is it was for 0 dollars or Euro, not like for 1% or 10% of standard price).

The deal stated 1 free month to rejoin now, or to join now. If you did it once that was it you got the deal as stated. If you did it twice by making a second account or sending an extra bundle, you exploited the words of the deal, because you already did it once, and it clearly stated 1, not 2, not 3, not infinite. 1. They stated this in their e-mail too, clarifying they'll honor 1 month, not the others. Whoever thought something else is an idiot.

So to clarify, it's completely fair. Because some people took the deal as stated and stopped there. It's fair for them to keep these games because humble stated they'll get a free month during that period of time, and later owned up to it and said they'll honor it.

The people who only got it once had no way of knowing it was an exploit for sure because on the website, it offered 1 month free. That's not their fault. Humble later owning up to it and letting them keep it is also not those people exploiting on purpose.

It's not fair for someone to make x accounts to take advantage of humble during that time to claim more. That is an exploit. It's unfair for them to keep the games, even the free month imo for attempting to fraud the website on purpose. That should be a perma ban imo. What humble will do is their deal, but that is not fair, although many times scammers and fraudsters get away with too much.

I got fucked though, because when I tried getting the link normally, it bugged and wouldn't let me sign up for it. So I created a gift link and gave it to myself. I only generated one link and redeemed the games on my own account. And then now they were removed, but alas nothing I can do now.

Aren't they mostly out of keys at this point though? I saw some people complaining that Legacy of Kain didn't have any more keys. I'll just get the games I wanted out of it on sales I guess.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (gifted from a copy of a free choice bundle i believe) got revoked from account.
Guessing they saw an excessive amount of abuse during the price glitch. Likely figured that they couldnt take the hit having to pay developers for all of the zero cost bundles that went out and decided to cull both unactivated and activated ones as well. Just a guess though.

No revokes on mine, I'm gonna go with it being more likely that the user that gave you the key made multiple accts to exploit, redeemed on the spot to get the keys or links, sold them, traded, or whatever, and then humble fixed their systems, caught the abuser, banned them, logged the keys and got those revoked, and so yours got revoked since the user in question was meant to get 1 copy and they redeemed more than 1.

Not something humble said they'd honor. They said they'd honor 1 month, not 1 for each account however many someone could make in 3 hours. I'm sure there were some rats out there who thought it was a good idea to make multiple accts and redeem the keys immediately bc "what could humble do?" or "what's the guy who bought the key gonna do?" when it's all done and set?

Curious, where did you get this key/gift link from?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It was in the form of a private message gifted key from a trusted friend. (Not a gift link, (probably) not a purchase, nor a free bundle on my own account or anything like that.)

The person who gave it to me said that their friend gave them a spare key. Id be fairly sure that this one came from one of the many 'free' bundles that are out there. Whether it was originally from someone who heavily abused the glitch, or just took a single free bundle, i dont have that information unfortunately.

Only info that i can meaningfully provide was that (a) key was revoked, presumably by a request to Steam from Humble.

How many of these revoked games are from extra months redeemed beyond the one month Humble agreed to honor? I'm guessing all of them, whether directly or indirectly (i.e. gifts, SG wins, etc...)

i still have all the games i got. only did it once
got email from humble saying whoops its a gift
my friend who i told about the deal and has only purchased 2 things on humble over the years had all the keys taken. asked them about it
we both have play on all the games and one of they they have played so much they got all the steam cards
i suspect because ive spent a decent amount of $ on bundles over the years i got to keep the keys.
humbles has always been fucky about who they send discounts and deals.

Most people that only got 1 bundle should be safe. I'd hesitate to believe what a "friend" says and would go based on first hand experience since not everyone is going to admit that they abused the glitch. I bought one bundle myself on my main account and got 1 free bundle on an alt account (didn't want to risk my main getting flagged). None of the keys were revoked. I also never got the email about Humble honoring the free bundle, so I suspect that doesn't really mean anything. If you only got 1 free bundle then I'd assume you're meant to keep it without any revokes. No idea if they're revoking keys from all gift links though

So far I got to keep the games I claimed too (I didn't send out any gifts) but I can no longer generate keys for items I hadn't claimed before, like the boot.dev offer I genuinely wanted to give a try. Also this months choice isn't listed under my purchases or under my humble library, but I'm not sure if it was listed there before or not. Hopefully this is just them reserving remaining keys for paying customers, I would actually be bummed out to find Boltgun and Legacy of Kain revoked after all (I even got the same mail you mentioned).
