Hi guys! I'm finishing my master degree in Business Administration and I have the chance, thanks to an international mobility program (Erasmus Mundus - Phoenix Project), to move in to another country for 5 months. I'll be studying there a mixture of Computing Sciences and Business Administration (I would like to learn sw dev and all that stuff).
I've been looking through the institution offer and I've finally found what I consider the best options:

  1. Princess Sumaya University for Technology (Amman - Jordan)

  2. Lebanese American University (Beirut - Lebanon)

  3. Modern University for Business and Science (Beirut - Lebanon)

The scholarship covers the university fees, the insurance, and I'll receive a monthly 1200$ grant as well.

So... what do you guys think? What would you choose? Could any of you recommend me any of those places?

Thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated.

That zone is hot amigo, there will be a war nearby if not there in less than 3 years.

I'd say Amman, mainly due to the security situation in Lebanon.

I've been to neither. But, I've been keeping up with the news and the like.. i'd like to say neither. But, as far as the lesser of the danger zones it would prolly be Amman.

I can't recommand you any of those places, but that's great, good luck for choosing it :)

Maybe you can contact students from your school who went in any of those to ask for advices?

I'd take Amman. Jordan's pretty safe, as long as you stay away from the Syrian border and the refugee camps in the north. Lebanon has the potential for becoming distinctly unsafe as it gets pulled more and more into the Syrian conflict.

Normally you could travel between the two to see both countries since they are so close, but I would really not advise it unless you fly. Travelling through Syria should be avoided for obvious reasons. If you travel through Israel you may be barred from entry into Lebanon and potentially other countries in the Middle East if you intend to travel around the region while you're there.

Overall, your program sounds like an excellent opportunity. Stay safe and you'll have an unforgettable experience (in a positive way).

Come to Israel. It's actually nice!

They don't offer that possibility, and tbh Gaza (Palestina) isn't an appealing place for me.

While I think you would probably like Beirut more, Amman would be "safer" in the long term. True, there's nothing preventing you from dying tomorrow by bus accident, but I figure you're not looking for trouble.

PS. (Visiting Israel will make it difficult to visit some other countries, and vice versa. That's why some people have more than one passport.)

I will second what guys above said: move to Amman. Better safe than sorry.

I have lived in Amman from 2006-2008. It is a safe place compared to the surrounding countries, however it is less fun than Lebanon. Lebanon is nice but it is definitely not safe to go there to live.

I have several friends who went to the Lebanese American University in Beirut. They said it was great! It's a good city for young people.

I have never heard of neither of those Universities, but if you are going to do that, pick Jordan. It's a much safer place, far away from the hot zone.
