Good day to you! I decided to learn how to create videos for YouTube. Since things don't work the first time (and, in my case, they tend to go especially bad) - I took the game, the review of which was not a pity to screw up. The short duration was also a significant factor, as I couldn't bring myself to watch 60+ hours of captured videos to find the right illustrations for the review text of some huge RPG. And I think that the result is not so bad, at least it is better than I expected, but the whole process ate up a ton of time. Any feedback will be appreciated since I want to understand which aspects to improve first of all and whether making video reviews is even worth it at all. P.S.: The review for Redactem has English subtitles.

Sorry, the bonus giveaway for a better time-reversal game in the same genre is region-restricted since I can't gift games to users from other regions. I could've sent the winner tradable items so they could buy it themselves, but this way the 50% discount for the owners of the original version wouldn't apply (not to mention regional price differences).

Let me give you feedback from a former Youtuber, me :)

You already lost my interest in the first 30 seconds, since your intro is too long without anything happening.

Furthermore I would strongly advise you to make up your mind in what direction you want to go with your reviews and who your audience is. Your subtitles tell me, that you talk directly to your audience and explain to them what you are doing, why you are doing what you are doing and what you want to do in the future.
You can do that, yes, but I would advise you to a) do this when you have already established a community and b) not do this in a review. Always change the perspective and put yourself in the shoes of your viewers. If you want to watch a review of a game to help you decide if you should buy a certain game, you do not want to hear anything personal about the creator or her/his thought processes. You want to know if the game is bad or good, if it suits your taste and if you should buy it or not.

Video and audio quality is good, subtitles are a plus (please also have deaf persons in mind where subtitles are mandatory) and you speak in a good tempo and have a nice flow.

All in all, for your first review it is a good start, but in my humble opinion, you have room to improve :)

If you want to know, here is my first review from 2014. It is not too good, since It is too long, mic quality is meh, voice is monotonous and I fail to keep the attention of the viewers.

My last review from 2018 is the first review I was satisfied with, although the video is too dark. It is way more entertaining, straight to the point but long enough to cover every aspect, better voiced and I even tried to bring a little humour into it.

Couldn't agree more.

Also had no idea you made Youtube reviews. Why did you stop?

Also had no idea you made Youtube reviews.

I started early 2014 as a Let's Player. It was already kinda late because the Let's-Play-train had already left the station and was running on full speed, but it was still way, wayyyy smaller than it is today. I also started adding other things to the channel: Reviews, Vlogs, Previews, Unboxing, Intros/Opening Cinematics and Tutorials.
Due to popular demand, I also started streaming on Twitch in, I can't really remember, 2015ish?

Why did you stop?

Life :)
I picked up a new job in 2015. It was a part-time job, at first, but in August 2015 it changed to a full-time job.
Tried to juggle working full-time, a relationship, hobbies and producing content, all at the same time, but it simply was too much. Producing content is very, very time consuming, if you want to have a good production value.

So I focused on Streaming, was Livestreaming on Twitch and YouTube at the same time whille reducing the output of pre-produced content on YouTube. That kinda worked for a time.

As the job got more and more complex and I rose through the ranks there, I had to continue to reduce the schedule until in 2017 I stopped with everything.
In 2018 I felt the itch to produce videos again and focused on Reviews, but in the end, they also were too time consuming and that experiment failed. So I stopped with producing my own content.

I feel the itch again since last year and thought about doing Reviews again. But since I know how much time has to be dedicated to it to be good, I refrain from starting again and focus on playing games and having fun again. Instead of playing them and while playing them, focus on every mistake and analyze the game with the review in mind.

Thanks a lot for a detailed comment!)

Yeah, the intro may be a bit long. It's a short review of a short game that nobody heard of. So, I thought that the inclusion of 25-second trailer in the beginning to demonstrate its main aspects may be a good idea. Probably it wasn't. I watch some YouTubers who add 10-20 second intro of their channels at the beginning of each video and I don't mind it myself. I kinda like some of them. But, to think about it, some of them stopped doing it after some point or made them a way shorter and that may be the reason why.

About talking to the audience in the beginning — I made it for a few reasons since it's my first video game review on the channel. I don't plan to make such comments in each video. I've considered putting it after the actual review, but I've thought that without explanation some of my subscribers wouldn't watch it till this point. The first reason why I did it was that while I was figuring out how to capture and edit a video, I made a really simple video about a TV show to send it a few people. And it was unexpectedly successful, getting 272k views, 3200 likes and ~115 subscribers. So, those people subscribed to me expecting new videos about TV shows... But they got a review for an obscure video game instead. So, I wanted to explain to them what my channel will focus on. Maybe it was better to release a separate video, but it would be a VERY short video. The second reason is that I was planning to post it in my Steam feed, curatorship pages and forum. It is an old and unknown game, so I don't expect a lot of random viewers outside the people from Steam/forum that I already know.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the feedback! Will check your videos too)

You're welcome and thank you for your answer.

YouTube changed, A lot. My humble advice to you is: Treat every video you produce for YouTube as a standalone video. This means, it has to work on its own. Don't connect your videos with a kind of agenda to your subscribers. Don't try to cater to some kind of audience.
That ship has long sailed.

Today, YouTube should be treated as standalone videos that might be found via their stupid algorithm. For anything community related, people nowadays expect Twitch. On Twitch, do the opposite you do on YouTube, build an audience, engage with your community as much as you can, be very, very personal. Twitch followers stay because of your personality, YouTube subscribers stay for the content.

It was different ten years ago when I started, but sadly, that is the environment of today.

Also, I've tried to add timestamps so people could skip intro fast, but YT doesn't allow to add them to short videos
