Yeah Ea is just really making it hard for themselves at this point, kinda acting like a vengeful child acting out if you ask me...

Dragon age 2 was a huge letdown, EA is slowly killing off all of it's series

EA is the parent company. Bioware operates wholly autonomously from EA, except for publishing decisions.
When Bioware developed DA2, all decisions regarding the CONTENT of the game were Bioware's and Bioware's alone. EA had nothing to do with it. DLC sales structuring, release dates, DRM shit, that's EA's contribution.
Most of the blame for a "bad" game goes on the developers, not the parent company or publisher.

A publisher can in fact influence a developer, its kinda like when a band goes on a Major label and all of a sudden the music got a lot more poppy. Thats the best I can explain it. Sure its still the same band but it might not sound like the same band after a couple CD's.

But EA as a publisher controlling the developers. Telling them to release the game early, add more action scenes, they just push on them.

yeah, ea told visceral games dead space 3 wont sell good unless they added more action and more human vs human moments to attrack more players, thanks to this dead space turned into a bloody version of uncharted in the snow.

That's just it though, EA was fairly lax about the development schedule around DA2. The decisions made to include more action or whatever everyone hated so much about the game was based on Bioware's analysis of the player reactions to the first game.
As for Visceral's changes to Dead Space, that's pretty much how it goes though. Dead Space 1 and 2 had really great reviews, but they didn't sell quite as well as EA AND Visceral had hoped, so they changed it up in DS3. And it worked.

Everything you say should be true but I suspect there's more to it in EA's case for one simple reason. Every time EA buys a development studio the games eventually turn into mass market drivel. The rate at which this happens varies but it always happens.

It's funny. I sat at a friend's computer to try out the game and to play with another friend while we talked on Skype. The first message I saw was telling me to play with a friend. The twist? It appeared to be a disabled feature since Origin would show her in game (when I'm at the desktop looking at the friendlist), but in SimCity it showed her offline and she was unable to invite me to a game and vice versa. Silliness.

ehh how did noone see this coming. Always on DRM never works well the first week. There's zero incentive to pre-order this. It's worse than Diablo III situation. The solution is to wait until the game is released and THEN buy it. It's not complicated it doesn't involve you boycotting games to prove a point but it saves you money headache and hassle for little to no loss.

Oh EA, why are you giving us more reasons to hate you even further?
Comment has been collapsed.
Guessing no one remembers this? Basically a while back there was a mess over the TOS about if you stayed off the account for to long you basically lost it.
Really messed up...

Pure and utter horseshit reaction. It's something like what Steam says about leaving an account inactive for 7 years. I had games associated to an Origin account from 2011. I only recently reinstalled Origin and the games were in tact.
EA support doesn't know what to say/what's going on. Ugh, so much bullshit. I hope a lawyer smells blood and a class-action gets moving.

And the danse macabre finally begins for this huge body of foulness. Was nice having you for a few decades, but now you've gone too far with your exploits, and you caused your own demise. Have fun dying!

As much as I hate EA, I doubt they are gonna die.

I agree, this isn't just some small developer, EA is a huge company and it keeps buying out other studio's which makes it "too big too fail" it's actually a business strategy used by a lot of big companies.
And besides that, they own the rights to a lot of sports games, for instance the FIFA franchise which is making them a shitload of money with little effort.
I do think they will stop releasing games for PC though, it might take a couple of years but i'm sure it will happen.

one more reason to never get origin or any games on it.
Its the peoples own fault, by throwing money to EA after all the things they have done.
Would all people stop buying EA Games regardless whether they are good or not, EA would stop doing things like that.
But as long as they get their money, they will never stop bitching around with gamers.

And this is why i avoid EA forums and Origin like the plague.

No surprise there. I had my account banned for a week about 6 months ago because I posted a deal from GMG on Battlelog to get BF3 Premium for a discount. Luckily after spamming their forums and support for a few days, they finally just reinstated my account.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep. The support guy said I was banned because "GMG was not a legit website".

The only reason I have any games on Origin is because of that time they screwed up and accidentally gave out half their catalog for free.

Couple months back, I didn't go crazy, got 1 game.

I didn't want to be greedy, EA is greedy, if all they see is gamers being greedy then they will most likely continue being greedy, then again its EA so they might do that no matter what we do, I don't know, morals and such I guess :-/.
Comment has been collapsed.
Ah I know :-P.
But yeah people get really greedy when they see the word free and a loop hole. Kinda like the people who eat all the free samples in stores...O_o.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hahaha, I remember some SA goon took a screenshot of his account that day and he literally had every game that could get the discount. I have no idea if his account got frozen or not.
Comment has been collapsed.
That actually deserves a ban I think, thats a bit much O_O.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's what I thought too. I guess they were just resigned to say "Okay, we fucked up, whatever at that point."
Actually I tried to install origin to see if the game I got was still there. Turns out it was, but when I tried to download/install it origin crashed twice. :V
Comment has been collapsed.
I got my one game and was happy with that. I wasn't about to risk my account either.
They sent me an additional code for actually doing the survey, so I managed to get both of the games that I really wanted.
Comment has been collapsed.
this is why ladies and gentlemen, why you never should support EA.
Comment has been collapsed.
People never learn, they are retards. Diablo 3 online only DRM showed them a perfectly good example. Yet they still choose to pre-order an online only DRM lousy game + from also EA = They just went full retard lol.
Never go full retard, and they all did it and whine cry baby now. If they start boycotting EA, EA would have gone the THQ way.
Comment has been collapsed.
"How could they woohoo this up so badly? Where shall we live now?"
Comment has been collapsed.
Inb4 someone comes over and starts saying how it's just anti-EA bandwagon and everyone are wrong for hating EA... I give this thread 5 hours TOPS before that happens.
So, anyway, on topic: Shouldn't people be able to sue EA for that? There is usually some legal hole that they can hide in but this is outright theft. I've seen companies get sued for much smaller things and losing. Has anyone even tried yet?
Comment has been collapsed.
I got SimCity off GMG, hopefully those copies are ok.
