Hi SG! It's been a while. Like, nearly half-a-year while. It was my irl birthday recently and--as I like to commemorate cakedays and birthdays with giveaways-- I remembered all of you lovely people. Normally, I like to celebrate by giving away a non-bundled game from the community wishlist but since this birthday kinda snuck up on me, I don't have one prepared. Never fear though! I can improvise with the best of them 😊 This will be a two part event!

Part 1
I pulled up my excel sheet with all my spare keys and quickly compiled a train for you all. These are all humble bundle choice leftovers from the months January-May. There are 21 cars, all level 1+, and mostly not region restricted.

Get your ticket here! Also, thanks to sensualshakti for their lovely Humble Bundle Choice threads which I used to quickly check region restrictions. Very helpful!

PART 1 IS NOW CLOSED. Congratulations to all the winners and to the one lucky SG user who managed to win twice!

Part 2
I may have dropped the ball a bit this year, but I still want to do a giveaway of a non-bundled game wanted by the SG community. Since no game or deal jumped out at me, I want to solicit suggestions from you all. Please leave a comment on this thread with a game you'd like me to buy and donate here on these forums. If you include a link to a legitimate third party site (basically, anything featured on IsThereAnyDeal) with a deal on your game, you're odds of my choosing it just went up πŸ˜‰. I'll either update this thread or create a new one once I have chosen and purchased a game.

UPDATE (5/14/21): Thank you to everyone who submitted a game suggestion! There was quite a wide variety of games proposed, however I decided to go with one of the games that at least two people suggested: Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. I actually found SG specifically because I had a spare key for the first game in that franchise, and I wanted it to find a good home. It seems fitting to giveaway the sequel now (probably more so if I had given it away for my cakeday rather than my birthday but ah well πŸ˜‰) . The giveaway will last until May 17 at 9pm EDT and it is still level 1+.

PoE: Deadfire Giveaway

PART 2 IS NOW CLOSED. Thanks for playing everyone and congrats to the winner! Hope that you all had fun!

Hey Tiajma, thank you! I want to ask, off all the games you have 100% in achievements, which one did you enjoyed the most, I mean which one had the best achievements to get?

What an interesting question! But a difficult one to answer since most of the achievements that I most enjoyed getting are actually from games that I don't have 100% achievements in. A lot of the most rewarding or amusing achievements are in games which have the really grindy achievements (e.g. "kill 10,000 of enemy type X") that I hate completing.

The achievement that I most enjoyed earning was actually played on a friend's account and it was one of those achievements that mock a player for utterly failing at playing the game well. I can't recall the name of the game right now, but it was some aRPG and in the middle of a fight I had managed to get hit with just about every type of damage. I was on fire, electrocuted, frozen solid, bleeding profusely, and then I think I got pushed off a cliff. I was gaping incredulously at how utterly I had failed, and this little chime sounded and the achievement popped and it was called some thing like "Cause of Death: Unknown" or "CoD: Dealer's Choice" or something along those lines. It actually made me laugh out loud.

But to answer your actual question, I think that the Resident Evil franchise does a good job with achievements (assuming you're like me and you like the achievements that make a game more difficult). They do lots of different difficulty based ones (both "beat the game on X difficulty" ones and more nuanced "beat the game using only your knife" or "beat the game without ever using the item box or healing" type achievements). You master dodging during a "no healing" run, which then makes your subsequent speedrun easier, which teaches you the most efficient routes to take which makes an Insanity run simpler; you learn as you go. In other words, the achievements feel challenging but fair which is ideal I think.

Wow, this is a lot more detailed than you probably wanted lol. I'm loquacious; it's a fault πŸ˜‰. TL;DR: I think RPGs are best for creative and/or funny achievements while the RE franchise does difficulty based ones very well. Of games that I have actually 100% completed that means either BG:EE or RE3 Remake.

I don't consider this a "fault" at all! What a lovely and detailed response. In fact, you have given me enough reason to try to get 100% BaldurΒ΄s Gate, and the Resident Evil games I have. Thank you!

About the aRPG that you told me about, was it Diablo maybe? or Magicka?

It definitely wasn't Diablo. I don't remember ever playing Magicka but maybe? Honestly, the game itself was pretty "meh" and I've forgotten most of my experience playing it. Just remember that one achievement and sort of what the game looked like at that moment (I was on a slightly snowy mountain top and it was an isometric RPG).

Good luck on your achievement hunting!
