This, this, this! You will lose all track of time in Civ V. I started a game with a friend this past week. The first day we started at 9:30pm and I planned to go to bed by midnight. Nope... I went to bed at 4am (6.5 hours). Our successive sessions lasted 5 & 4 hours and we're still playing the same match. I highly recommend the game.

It's weird how I can't stand strategy games... I have Civ V, so I launched it, watched the short intro (excellent intro by the way), started playing with the tutorial toggled... A few minutes later, my reaction was something like "Ugh."...
SO much reading... But the worse is that there are so many options, I don't know what to do anymore.
I guess I'm just not a very strategic guy...

semi true ... but I was very close to report most of my Dota 2 teammates yesterday for harassing me, even though in the end I turned out to be the highest level, most kills, no death, most assists.
why was I still harassed? all because I didn't run into the obvious suicide attacks that they pinged.
MOBAs can be very frustrating at time ...

The biggest time sink for me was and is Counter-Strike. These days, it's the "Global Offensive" version of the game.
If you're looking for single-player games, then usually the biggest time sinks tend to be RPGs (try playing through all Mass Effect games for example,) strategy games (Civ IV or V,) and a few space sims (X3 Albion Prelude).
And then, there's also Pinball FX2 ;-)

dwarf fortress....its imposible not to sink time in it, you need to learn everything...god i wasted so much time only learning how to begin playing -.-
