some people even pay for this OS.

i assume you got this legit but free.
if not, this might cause you trouble.

i had a small problem with chipset on win10 on a laptop. an older driver worked in the end. i think it was nvidia fault. but with a gpu it shouldn't be a problem

in Win10

I refused to upgrade to that OS. I don't consider it's worth it in its current state.

it's only worth it if you actually need to buy an OS anyway

Did you upgrade from W7/8? Lots of unexplainable trouble happens when doing that.
Only a fresh install can solve most :-/

funny fact: for me it was the opposite.
all problems that I have now came from clean install on my dell notebook. :(

How exactly does one get their license key to do a clean install if they used the Free Upgrade to Windows 10?

Ignore question, MS apparently stores your hardware on their server (this is troubling to me and somewhat 1984)

There is a way/tutorial for it. Shouldn't be hard to find.

During the free upgrade period, you could do a fresh install and just use your old Win 7 key.

Permalink

You can still do this. I've recently installed Windows 10 and used Windows 7 key to activate it. Everything went without any problems at all :)

Only issues ive had with Win10 has been there spying but there is like a hundred apps that make it easy to fix now like shutup10 and AntiBeacon,i have heard of people will issues who have older hardware and there motherboard manufacturers never release drivers for win10 tho but no issues with that here with three systems running it,im also yet to find a game that didnt run great on Win10.

Yeah, it's atrocious. I'm having Vista flashbacks sometimes. But I don't want to downgrade because I had many issues with audio production on Win7 which disappeared on 10 but I am very close to downgrading.

I'm actually pretty happy with Windows 10 ever since it installed on my machine without me remembering approving it

I came from Windows 7. I had 8.1 on my laptop but I didnt like it. Win10 is working fine and its fast on both machines, I dont need more

Probably installing 32-bit software on a 64-bit machine?
Must be something obvious going wrong because Windows has never been more user-friendly and plug-and-play.

If you are looking for documentation, TechNet and MSDN should have you covered. Not the easiest sites to get around, but they should cover all your questions, and quite a few you didn't know you had.

Define unfuck. Both MSDN and TechNet do give you all the documentation for the Group Policy and its API. If you say what you are looking for with "unfuck group policy", it might be easier to help you.

gpedit.msc > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Network Connections >
set "Prohibit access to the "New Connection Wizard" to No

Or just screenshot the entire panel and I'll tell you what to set them to.
Everything under the exact panel I directed you to is set to "No" by default.

i can't tell if this one is another shitpost or if it's genuine hatred for win10. :P

that rant kinda goes from one thing to another. what's group policy got to do with video drivers or adware? why/what/how is group policy a issue? i hate windows in general don't get me wrong, but as far as a windows comparison it's one of their better os's imo, assuming the pc it's on is compatible with it. what gpu are you trying to install drivers for, is it even windows 10 compatible?

well, last time he was talking about how shitty and broken geforce experience is - turns out he tried to install it on an unsupported OS. so, since he didn't go into detail what exactly his problem is, i just assume he tries to install Win10 on an unsupported PC... ^^

you didn't/don't actually have to login as administrator too manage those settings. all you do is click that button and it asks if you want to allow administrator privileges on the settings as a regular user. that's been that way since windows 7, are you going from windows xp to windows 10 all in one swing just now?

yeah, vista had the beginning works of UAC that's similar to what it is today, but not quite the exact same. it's a pretty significant change in that case. it sounds to me like your computer may not be compatible, are there even network drivers installed in the device manager? i honestly haven't had the need to go into those kind of settings in about 7years now though in order to have internet access.

Group policy was effective on administrator accounts back in the days when I use Windows XP (and of course Windows 7 too) if I'm not mistaken. If you want to set up policy that is only effective on certain accounts, use parental control in the control panel.

Which version of Win 10 are you on? You didn't attempt to add/edit local group policies on Win 10 Home, did you? [Spolier: That doesn't work.] Why do you need to edit group policies for a driver install in the first place? Most, if not all of that stuff can also be controlled via registry if needed (though not necessarily recommended).

Knowing you, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out you were attempting to compile some obscuro custom legacy non-WHQL version of an alternate driver through an encrypted portable Linux VM via remote desktop or something of the sort. (οΌβ€Έαƒš)

Yep, worst windows ever (I've seen them all since Windows 1.0). But I still upgraded to it, because some day I plan to upgrade my pc and want to be sure my OS will support it. But only because of this.
