So... I just added those.

There are currently 2 games that someone has indicated might be in the bundle. They are listed under the chart in the OP.

But i'm not sure if HB will give any other hints between now and November 6th ):

Okay, that means, it effectively doesn't even start before November, and there won't be any bundle for the first Friday this month. Not that it matters to me for more than curiosity's sake ... I'm not gonna spend $12 on something I don't know and I'm not gonna give them any credit card information. Also thank you so much Rachel, for always keeping us in the loop about all the new bundled stuff. It's appreciated.

I'll subscribe for a month or two, $12 isn't that much and fortunately I have a few things I can do with the games I don't want (I don't trade, but I have a few channels for giving what I don't want to others), so there isn't much harm from my perspective... I trust humble bundle enough to trust they won't push shovelware through the curation

Transistor, eh? Now you've kind of got my interest. I've heard lots of good things about it and it seems right up my alley. Still, I'd never even heard of that flame in the flood thing so that's not really promising, and I'm not really interested in the legend of grimrock...

Q. Does "haven't been featured in other bundles" mean only never been in previous Humble Bundles? Or will games not have been bundled anywhere (including other bundle sites)?
A. We're trying our best to pick a good mix of some of our favorite classic games, and hot new games! Each month's Humble Monthly release will include a mix of games never before released in a Humble Bundle,
and some of our favorite classics from previous bundles.

They are totally contradicting themselves there! First they're like: "Nooo, no games from our previous bundles!" Then the fine print says: "Yeah, some stuff from previous bundles but only good stuff."
But I already bought many of their previous bundles and own many well-received indie classics. So chances are that I'll be getting redundant stuff I don't want, for a set price I maybe wouldn't have paid. Plus, I don't like to be deceived into anything.

And only 5% for charity? That's merely enough to write it on their flag. Honestly, the whole thing seems to me like some plan to generate more steady revenue to pay their employees, without the unknown variable of how much customers give to charity. Kind of like their store deals, which can't really beat Steam's own sales. So maybe the store alone didn't yield enough money, so they're now trying this subscription model?

I was really tempted to subscribe at first, since I'm keen on Grimrock 2 and would like to support them for all the good stuff they brought us like great deals and charity. But now I'm doubtful because of how they contradict themselves about content and how the overall value will be completely up to them. I highly doubt the monthly bundles will have cheapskate-bundle-value but rather humble-store-like value. Maybe somewhere in between, which would be okay, if I could be sure of not (or only rarely) getting games I already own.

Perhaps selling regular bundles aren't beneficial for them anymore? xD

Interesting graph and site. But since the bundles differ in content, I don't think they are really comparable. One bundle might have good tier 1 content, so it will have many low price purchasers. Another bundle might be the opposite.
What's really clear is that this is 2015 and the bundle concept is nothing new and exciting anymore but has become regular business for an increasing number of competing sites. But also for the average customer who can't afford to spend big on every bundle when so many are coming out each month.
I've also read that the positive effects for developers of selling their games bundled haven't been exactly overwhelming. I'm curious where this whole bundle market is going when its biggest player Humble Bundle seems to be already struggling.

I got some info regarding the monthly bundle. Here's the info (i asked humblebundle support myself so the info is probably 100% true)

Q: I have a question.

Some people do not have credit card, so, can people gift this bundle to another account? If not, will gifting monthly bundle be available in the future?

A: Hi there,

Thank you for your excitement regarding the Humble Monthly subscription!

That's a great question! We're working on a way to gift entire bundles, but we're not quite there yet. For now, you can definitely gift individual games, but you can't buy a Humble Monthly Bundle for another account.

Absolutely all of the games that you get as part of the Humble Monthly subscription are individually giftable. Once the November content unlocks, you can feel free to give away any of the games you will receive. We've even written a handy support article explaining how to gift away your keys:
Gifting Steam Keys

We're absolutely working on PayPal support — they can't currently accommodate our payment system, but we're hopeful we can get this implemented soon.

thanks for the information! this is helpful. I think the "individual steam keys" question was answered previously, but it's good to know they are "working on the Paypal option" ... unfortunately, not in time for people who want the november bundle to actually get it without a credit card ._.

"they can't currently accommodate our payment system" sounds odd to me. As it is, if you authorize a Paypal purchase via Steam and don't uncheck the box to remember it as a payment method, you're signed up for recurring payments via Paypal. In the case of Steam, I'm sure they only intend it as a way to authorize payments quickly, like having a verified payment method on file, but the actual purpose is to set up exactly the kind of thing HB is doing. That makes me wonder what 'payment system' they could possibly have in mind that isn't already available via Paypal.

I will continue to pass. Get your act together HB and I'll do it, but only via Paypal and for the first bundle, the only one I trust you have incentive to make really stellar. We'll see after that.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah; it seems weird that PayPal won't cooperate with recurring payments, since they provide it for many other services.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They're lying. Paypal can handle subscription payments. It's the very thing that saved me from having a heart attack with the Patreon breach. No, Humble simply doesn't want to allow Paypal, because they're afraid of getting tangled up in disputes, or maybe there is some kind of conflict of interest involved while also being connected with the Paypal Giving Fund. In any case, there isn't a technical reason for it.

they should be count as bundle game, it doesn't matter if they're slightly expensive than usual bundles.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Because of what? You pay 12$ and get 4-5 games. So each game 2,5-3$ thats more than the usual price. Often you`ll get 3-5 games for 1$... and the number of ppl subscribing the bundle is more less than usual. I wonder if there are more than 5.000?!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The idea of the bundle rate is that it's a massive discount; usually 90+%. The cutoff for a non-bundled game to be added to the "bundle" list is 95% off, so it really depends on what all is in the bundle. We'll see; likely support will determine it based on how the outcome of the first few bundles are.

NOPE. Random games not worth $12.

Permalink

I don't like it.

It's basicly the same as the "buy random steam key scam" except you can be sure it's not been bought with stolen money. Im not going to risk 12$ for games i might already own. For 12$ you can actually buy quite alot at the right sale.

Also i fear that this premium program will water down the quality of their normal bundles.

I was against this at first, but reading the Q&A you provided has changed my mind. I'm gonna commit to a month and see how it goes. And I don't have Legends of Grimrock 2 anyway, so even if the bundle disappoints it's not a total loss.

For us people on the european side of the sea, I mailed support and asked them why there is no support for payments in Euro, as there is in the Humble Store. I am one of the unlucky people whose bank charges for currency conversion, so this is kind of important for me. Their response was the usual canned one about trying to incorporate other methods of payment etc etc. and alhtough I asked them again about this specific discrepancy, they still haven't replied. I'm pretty tempted though, I have a feeling it's going to be a nice bundle.

The text about not being in a previous Humble Bundle worries me. There are a ton of great games that have been in bundles elsewhere but not Humble that could be included under these terms, which makes me a little nervous since I buy a ton of bundles.

Still gonna try at least one or two months though.

Judging by the most recent Humble Bundle, it looks like our fears may be true. All the good stuff is going to be in the monthly bundle, and the regular and weekly bundles are going to get worse or be eliminated.

I would email support about that! But i think if you cancel your subscription, you wouldn't be getting the bundle on Nov 6.

Thinking about this a bit, I think if you cancel before the bundle launches, you will get to keep Legend of Grimrock 2, but you may not get the rest of the games in the bundle. At first I thought you might get the games anyway, but now I'm not so sure.

And you most definitely won't be able to get a refund if you activate Legend of Grimrock 2.

You MIGHT be able to get a refund if you don't reveal the key for Legend of Grimrock 2, and then they'll remove it from your account.

I think the main point I want to emphasize, which is to speak to the motivation of people who keep asking the question, there is no loophole. You can't get anything for free. Please stop thinking you can.

This Monthly Bundle looks a lot like any other Tier-3 bundle from HB. So there's nothing new there apart from the surprise factor.
My question is: If this is just another bundle, will the, ahem, quality of the other HB bundles decrease? After all, there's no point creating a whole new product if the older products are better than the new one. Unless some GTAV or MGS shows up in the Monthly (ok, i know that's not gonna happen)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

HB bundles have been going down the drain somewhat in quality the past few weeks :/ i'm not sure what this monthly bundle would mean for the rest of the HB ones because like you said, it's like the third tier. And seeing as it has bundled and unbundled games, I'm not sure how great this will be vs weekly bundles which are a lot cheaper than the monthly one.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's true :/ And I fear that the quality of the average HB will go even lower.
There used to be bundles with "old" AAA games for as low as one dollar. Let's take the Origin Bundle for example, which was awesome.
Now I see a chance that there will be good bundles again, but only in the monthly bundle. And after, they may get rebundled within the normal HB few months later...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

exactly! I am very much on the fence about the monthly bundle. On one hand, I am attracted to the idea of good quality games, but the monthly bundle is full of ... well .. mystery... and risk. With the weekly bundles, you at least know what you will get, and of course, everything gets rebundled in some other form .. I'm glad I still have until november to decide.

All the industries have companies providing new products worst than previous but in that case is because it's more profitable in any way (just by the default cuts seems THAT is the main reason in this case) and in those cases usually it's not selling, or making difficult to obtain, or less appealing the previous products.
