I picked up the total war bundle that was awesome as I didn't have any of those games. I think one thing for certain is the monthly subscriptions will be great for this site... :)

I am really debating on it for the first month. I know it is $12 I really can't afford, but I figure if there is going to be a block buster bundle, it would be the first one or else it would fizzle fast.

And, if it does turn out worth it, I could always throw any extras I get on here.

But the problem is $12 is kinda out of the budget, lol.

$12 is a bit pricey... especially when each game you are getting will be around $2 and you are unsure of what games exactly ...

The biggest issue I see here, is that a person could end up receiving several duplicate games they already own (even if they are decent games)...making it much less of a good deal. That's really the main drawback with buying blind, and why I don't do it.

Perhaps a new Steam user would find this quite attractive though. Still, I have a difficult time seeing this succeed over the long haul. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

For me it looks like textures from the same game - the art style is too similar between the croppings to be different games... I started lurking a little, because the whole thing looks familiar. Quite similar with Bastion's and Transistor's colour palette, so maybe I'm just mixing it up :)

I think it's the same art style that HB uses always in their bundles when they don't use the game covers, also it's the same art displayed in their "HB Monthly" section.

There are 7 clues, and 7 games to be given (including Legend of Grimrock II), although 2 doors hold the same kind of design and blue glowing thing inside:
-Blue glowing thing inside? Child of light perhaps
-Royal Lilly? Saints Row
-Garage? A racing game
-Lantern? Maybe Sunless Sea
-Long wooden door... no clue
-Stone and wooden doors? no clue

Didn't they told something about unbundled games, or my memory cheating me? That would rule out SR games and Torchlight as well, two popular guesses. + the glowing thingy can be Ori and the Blind Forest, it's really blue, really glowing :)

I don't think they ever said that... and it's also likely not overly relevant for how they look at it. SG people are not their main customer segment for all I know :)

They said they were going to giveaway a mix of bundle and unbundled games, 6 in total (plus the preorder game). You might be right with Ori too! Either way I almost never spend $12 on games on a single month, specially if I'm going blind, so I'll pass.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, this is where I call bollocks. Never liked it in the erliest Royales, nor in the Groupees preorders, and I won't like it here. I like to buy stuff that I know I'll want and love, and honestly, when Humble starts with this shit, you know the whole bundle business is hitting a new low. I'll just buy games when they're on sale, my account is already 3 quarters of bundle fluff I never intended to touch anyway.

In other words, screw you guys, I'm going home.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Groupees preorders always have more than half, if not all games public before it goes live. While I understand that HB's 12$ gamble is another level, but you picked a very, very wrong example with groupees.

I'm not complaining about the prices or what games have been bundled before, my annoyance is with the fact that in all these cases people are paying for games that they have no idea what they are. That's like saying, hey, here's a bundle that you'll buy for cheap but only to have some new games added to your account anyway, so we won't bother telling you what they are.

I've been one of those buyers before, and I believe I spent a small fortune on bundles that just bloated my library with uninteresting stuff, and I'm kinda happy that those days are behind me already. Personally, this is where I draw the line though; I'll still buy bundles that have something interesting in them, but I ain't paying blindly just to have "moar gaems".

Comment has been collapsed.

Good point - the no clue groupees ones are also a nope for me, I need at least one game to be intresting for me, at acceptable price. Though I love making giveaways, as you said one has to draw the line between buying and not buying. I'm quite intrested in HB's new idea, but I'll wait as much as I can, the more hints out and games confirmed, the better.

Saint's Row and Torchlight? Thank god I didn't subscribed.

Thye more I think about this the more I don't think I'll do it.

  1. Too much to pay for buying blind. I don't mind throwing $1.50 or whatever here and there at Groupees but $12 when not knowing what it's going to be is a bit steep for me. I have a large library of games so chances of getting something I already own will be high. Then there's the chances of getting something I don't care for.

  2. If publishers are willing to stick their games in these bundles, maybe they'll pop up in other bundles or sales soon enough anyway on diffrent sites etc. I know there's often a bundle exclusivity deal so it might stop some of them going into other bundles for a little while, but if they're willing to take a small amount for their game then it can only be a matter of time before the game is on sale at a big discount on Steam, GMG, Nuuvem etc. if it hadn't been already and I can just buy that one or two games I want instead without having to pay for other stuff I don't want on top.

My guesses: A lot of Doors: Could be Resident Evil's Remastered Dooranimation, but the Artstyle of the Doors and Lantern reminds me of Thief (2014) and there' s The Saints Tag, since SR 2-4 are are already bundled this could be Gat out of Hell.

Gat out of Hell would be nice cop-out way for their "premium" game... Considering it's now -50% so bit higher, but limited discount isn't outside possibilities...

My comments on the hints:

  1. Seven doors implies seven games, or maybe not. One of the doors could be DLC or something else.

  2. Is Legends of Grimrock II included in the total, or is it in addition to these seven items, for a real total of eight?

  3. Two of the doors look the same but with different dimensions. That could be significant.

  4. It's going to be something in the Saints Row series, but which one? Will it include DLC?

  5. Some people said that the rollup door looks like a garage door, but the first thing I thought of was a bodega or shop.

  6. I find it hard to believe that the lantern represents Torchlight II. That just doesn't seem special enough for the first bundle, when it's been bundled before.

  7. That doesn't look like a prison door to me, it looks like the door to a mental ward or psychiatric facility.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The garage door vaguely reminds me of the ones in Car Mechanic Simulator 2015. Doesn't have the chain, but has the bump at the top and ridges on the door. Of course it's generic enough to be anything, but they finished milking the DLC and released a gold edition a couple months back. Wouldn't be surprised if they threw it in a premium bundle while they work on 2016.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Car Mechanic Simulator is not the kind of game that would end up in this kind of premium bundle. Yes, Humble has done simulator bundles before, but those are not considered to be premium games for the most part. Putting that in this bundle would completely destroy Humble's reputation and sink this bundle experiment immediately.

Other than games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 and some of the train simulators, most simulator games have a very uneven and sketchy reputation. They are not considered to be premium level games by any stretch of the imagination.

The other problem with sims is that they don't get updated the way other games do. Each year, a new sim is created distinct from the previous, and whatever you already own is often abandoned with no more updates or bug fixes. That makes sims a bad choice for truly premium bundles.

That seems a bit harsh. Car Mechanic Simulator 2015 currently sits at 95% positive on Steam with over 1,000 reviews, only two percent behind Euro Truck Simulator 2.

GOG gave away Torchlight for free and Torchlight 2 has been bundled multiple times so I don't think any of the hints are related to these 2 games. Dungeon Defenders has been bundled before as well.

Saints Row Gat out of Hell and Besiege would be nice games to be part of this bundle

Transistor as you suggested on the thread might be a good thing , but i saw on the link that people are speculating about besiege or saint row..... I already have saint row, haven't finished the 4th coz it was so stupid and i'm really not looking to play the gat out of hell since it seems like it's an even bigger turd than the 4th, and i already have besiege

Just seen the 2nd hint. My analysis

It looks like 3 doors are open.

Lantern door is open already. That's the Legend of Grimrock 2 (dungeon crawler)
1st hint door is the Saints Row one. Sounds like people think Gat out of Hell but could be Saints Row 4
2nd hint door is catapult from Besiege.
3rd hint the skeleton has me stumped. (remember to ignore the art style)
4th hint the radio. Jet Set Radio since it has the same publisher as hint 5. (Transistor perhaps?)
5th hint windmill. They are in besiege but also fits Valkyrie Chronicles
6th hint arrows?

Monthly Bundle Game Price
Pre-release game Legends of Grimrock 2 $23.99
Hint 1 Gat out of Hell? $14.99
Hint 2 Besiege $6.99
Hint 3 Skeleton I dunno :)
Hint 4 Jet Set Radio $4.99
Hint 5 Valkyrie Chronicles $19.99
Hint 6 Arrows I dunno :)
Total 7 Games $70.95+
