A monthly Bundle? What will you do?
Meh I'm not really convinced about this. I don't want to spend that much each month, I don't like "blind-bag style" subscriptions.
Maybe i'll just try the first month since it should be one of the best to keep the people hooked... we'll see!

So.. idk but I think my question got lost somewhere under the weight of other posts, but I don't think it's been answered yet. How exactly does the "unsubscribe" / cancel process work? Is there any option to simply cancel the subscription on the website somewhere?
Comment has been collapsed.
My dear it says in the FAQ 0.o
https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/articles/210560328
How do I cancel?
You can cancel your membership at any time, but you’ll need to cancel at least a week before new content unlocks to avoid subscribing and paying for the next month.
Just head to the Account Settings page, then click "Cancel my subscription"
Your membership will be cancelled, and you won’t be charged for future months. All the bundles you’ve already received are yours to keep.

Thanks for pointing that out dear worker-bee Rachellove, I didn't think of checking that article on their website, but you have to admit it's pretty much hidden under all the sweet info that's supposed to get people hyped in the first place and you have to scroll all the way down and click the link in "For more information, see our help article" which is easy to overlook yet it contains the most important info they should have made more visible on their website to not lose potential customers with unnecessary confusion.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think the FAQ is alllll the way to the bottom, so it's easily overlooked as you aid >_> they should really make it more visible so people don't end up emailing them about questions that may be answerable via the FAQ
Also, I think some people may have the assumption that the FAQ is a boring page to look at ... so they totally overlook it. It's like one of those things where, before you install something, you have to "read" a user agreement form, but nobody actually reads that thing anyways.

Maybe they have a different concept than you had. Saying it will be that you get less for more is kinda jumping to conclusions before we actually get to know what's gonna be inside the bundles.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm trying to think positive really. I'm not saying that $12 isn't a lot, especially if we don't know what's inside, that's something I can totally agree with that it stinks like a poop under carpet, on the other hand however, how can you say that they are going to give less for more, essentially meaning they are going to fill up the bundles with crap? Aren't they getting enough to actually make that purchase worthwhile?
Well, sorry to put it like this, but I think your opinion might be little biased here - how else should I take your opinion if you come up with such statement, practically saying that Humble Bundle will give less for more money and yet you work for a Humble Bundle competitor's company? It has that vibe of getting some points for your own company attempting to discredit the competitor.
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't mean it as, using your words, 'fill up the bundles with crap'. I meant two things. 1. When you buy their regular bundles, you get more games of the same quality for less. 2. I personally think people don't like buying something where they don't know what are they buying (as confirmed to me by many comments here). Both statements are my personal opinion and as I said, we'll see after at least half a year.
One more thing. I said it as myself, I used my personal profile, I just wrote my opinion (what internet is for, among other things) ;)

- When you buy their regular bundles, you get more games of the same quality for less.
Are we talking about comparing the quality of the games in the same bundle or the quality of the games from regular bundles with the quality of the games from monthly bundle?
If it's the latter, then I'd say it's up for discussion simply because we don't know what kind of games they are going to put into bundle, so saying it will be this or that is a pure speculation and furthermore, while they explicitly did not list the games that are coming in their first bundle in this new project, in answer to one of the user's questions, they already gave a hint about what level of quality of the individual titles should we expect (as noted in the original post in this thread), now assuming that there really is going to be at least one "hot title less than one year old", that alone should make the bundle as a whole well worth the money and clearly stand out (should we really compare them to the regular bundles).
- I personally think people don't like buying something where they don't know what are they buying (as confirmed to me by many comments here).
I can only speak for myself, but I personally fully agree with this statement as well.
One more thing. I said it as myself, I used my personal profile, I just wrote my opinion (what internet is for, among other things) ;)
Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions, be it a personal one or one voiced in the name of a competitor using a personal profile. :)

You know, I was thinking that too about all the negativity, that "we shouldn't judge this bundle before at least seeing what's in it."
Then I remembered, judging the bundle without knowing what's in it is exactly what HB are asking us to do. We're just coming to different conclusions than they'd hoped :p

Kind of weird how the charity donation is fixed at 5%, considering how hard they push that aspect on other bundles

So here's what I'm thinking (sorry if this is a retread--I read some but not all of the preceding conversation): they are going to want to make the first month look AMAZING to sell the new service. I am not a fan of paying $12 in advance for I-know-not-what. But, because of this desire to impress right out of the gate, I'm confident the first month will be worth it, especially since we can cancel at any time. I'm signing up.

I already subscribed. Why? Humble never dissapointed me. I'm sure for the asking price the first Bundles are going to be a blast. I expect Big AAA-Games, like Shadows of Mordor, Dark Souls 2 or even FarCry 4 or GTA 5.

This $12 monthly subcription is more worthed than Indiegala DEEP SIM BUNDLE .... !!

If what you get are games that will be games that will come out on the highest tier of regular bundle, I think it will be a good deal.

For those interested, I messaged Humble support a few questions and got these answers:
Q. Does "haven't been featured in other bundles" mean only never been in previous Humble Bundles? Or will games not have been bundled anywhere (including other bundle sites)?
We're trying our best to pick a good mix of some of our favorite classic games, and hot new games! Each month's Humble Monthly release will include a mix of games never before released in a Humble Bundle, and some of our favorite classics from previous bundles.
Q. Will each game be a separate Steam key? Or will games be grouped together as a single Steam key?
Absolutely all of the games that you get as part of the Humble Monthly subscription are individually giftable. Once the November content unlocks, you can feel free to give away any of the games you will receive.
Q. An IGN article states that "At launch, all games in the monthly bundle will include Steam codes. However, in the future, some games will be DRM-free and may not be on Steam, or may appear on other platforms." However, your site says "What are the games playable on? / Steam for Windows. Sometimes more!" Can you confirm whether games in the Monthly bundle (past November) will all be Steam playable?
We certainly appreciate the level of attention we've been getting from the press regarding Humble Monthly, but unfortunately some of the information being circulated is incorrect. All games provided in the Humble Monthly subscription will have Steam keys included, and are guaranteed to be compatible with Windows. We always try our best to be as inclusive as possible with the range of platforms we support. Oftentimes this means we will be able to include a DRM-free version, and support for Mac, and sometimes even Linux.

Thanks @rachellove and @instantnoodles, I couldn't be bothered actually contacting HB support, but this addresses both of the major questions I had. Right now 1 game == 1 key and bundles will be a mix of games they haven't bundled already and games they have. So I'm ---><--- much closer to being not out. But still out. :-D
Comment has been collapsed.
Thanks for that. Your second two answered things I'd been wondering.
Comment has been collapsed.
The answer about never before bundled by Humble was very important, because there could be games that have been bundled or on deep sale elsewhere, and that means dupes.
I don't know why anyone thought there wouldn't be individual keys. Single keys only apply to single publishers. You can't combine games from different publishers into a single key. There are legal and contractual reasons why that is impossible.

very expensive for me, I do think that humble will deliever more quality content than other bundle sites tho.

Since I haven't seen an answer to the lingering question of whether you can unsubscribe after getting Grimrock 2, I wanted to mention that my card was already charged the $12. That would indicate to me that I'm "in" for next month and if I unsubscribe after that I still get November, I just won't get later months until I subscribe again.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm waiting for an answer for that Q too T_T Will you let me know if you do happen to "unsubscribe" and are still able to keep the game? I think that's the only way that we will find out ... unless we directly email HB and ask
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, you do get to keep the game and you will get the first bundle, but I think the confusion is that some people have been thinking you could get a refund or get something for free. You can't.
If you signup now, you will be charged and there will be no refunds. So, you can go ahead and unsubscribe after that, and then you won't have to worry about doing it before the December bundle launches if you're disappointed with the November one.
Let me repeat that, opting out only applies in cases where no digital products have been delivered yet. For example, if in December, there is no bonus game that is unlocked ahead of time, then you MIGHT be able to cancel your subscription before it launches and either get a refund, or, their system may be setup to not charge you until a few days before the bundle launches, so if you cancel before that, you won't be charged. But that doesn't apply to this launch because they've already given you a game, so once you signup, you're in for the first month for $12, and there is no going back.
And now I'm seeing info from Humble that says:
"In addition to guaranteed access to next month’s slate of games, first-time subscribers receive instant access to one of the top titles from the previous month."
So that means that once you signup the first time, you're in for the upcoming month no matter what. Being able to cancel and avoid payment only applies AFTER the first month.
Comment has been collapsed.
thanks for the clarification. I think this is important to know in case people are signing up and thinking they CAN unsubscribe and get refunded without getting next month's bundle.
i'll edit the OP with this info.
Comment has been collapsed.
In fact, the more I think about it, that is EXACTLY why they are giving you the bonus game ahead of time, to lock you in. If there was no advance game, then you would be able to cancel and get a refund, and they don't want that. This way, they have you for at least one month.
Comment has been collapsed.
exactly. I think most people are going in for that game .. or the hopes that the games in this bundle will be of the same or even better quality as TLoG2. I can't wait to report back on what games actually pop up once bundle goes live...
Hopefully people know of this warning beforehand tho before signing up for something they can't go back on. It's not a bad deal, $2 each for 5-6 games ... but the risk ...
Comment has been collapsed.
Humble Bundle has been really expensive for the past year. I remember when I first found out about this website, some bundles were so great like that "Alan Wake weekly" just for $1 and "Telltale Games" for $1 but now even the worst games are in Tier 1 and 2 that are not less than $6. So many repeats as well. Monthly bundle for $12 is way way too expensive.
Comment has been collapsed.
$12 a month is $144 a year.
That is quite alot to pay for a blind subscription model featuring a cat in a bag each month.
They either plan to make this an amazing bundle system or they just hope people's curiousity would get their better judgement.
It is very odd, to say the least.
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't see it mentioned explicitly, but for context, $12 now for Legend of Grimrock II + some as-yet indeterminate number of games ("around 5" in one spot, "6" in another that doesn't say if that includes LoG2 or not, almost certainly does, so assume 4-5 new games coming in November), but the current asking price is double the historical low. Lots of people have mentioned that (a) this is a good price for LoG2 and others have mentioned that it is not a good deal if you bought it on sale. Either way, if you look at the current historical low price and assume you bought it then, you have one copy to give away / trade / whatever and you only need the other games to be worth a little over a buck a piece to you. That's not a bad deal.
I'm still out though. :-D
Comment has been collapsed.
Wow this is new to me... seems interesting but a great gamble too, I don't spend so much on games on monthly basis (my salary is really low).
I might sit out the first month and wait and see if it's worth it, my backlog is too damn big anyways. Thanks for the heads up Rachel!
