Scam gets more and more frequently used with hyperbole, but it really isn't some catch-all for "low quality deals." It's the same degradation we've seen over time with so many other words. Misusing 'scam' to describe situations like this (moreso, insisting on the term still after corrected) just diminishes the word's value and impact in situations where it does apply more concretely.
There isn't any clear-cut line though, and sometimes the scenarios actually are fairly blurry. Most all "mystery box" arrangements rely on undercutting quality expectations to varying severity, with plenty of outright "bait-and-switch" situations. Meanwhile, most subscription services count on customers either being too lazy or forgetting to cancel. However, neither of these qualities necessarily indicate scamming--though both are pretty good signs you're heading that direction. You'll start seeing plenty of examples (of each type, or both together) where any reasonable bystander made aware of the facts would say its pretty clear cut scamming.
A less ambiguous example might involve, say, a subscription service where even after cancelling the customers are still intentionally charged in hopes that many will not notice. Now, there are some accusations about G2A doing this, which would make the situation a scam, however the key is very much "intent," plus there's always ""attributing malice where incompetence suffices" and all that.
Still, this idea that it's a scam because of the lesser value and crappier contents (which, in part derives from other time-limited, missable opportunities) doesn't hold up well. It's especially a super hard sell when the contents here are all actually announced before the subscription is charged, with sufficient time to cancel. Meanwhile the cancellation process is relatively easy and entirely without penalty, while there aren't even any locked-in periods. At least in these terms, this "g2a monthly deal" thing is pretty damn square.

I get what you were saying but when you have people on a subscription-based service and then give them games that they probably already have from having been handed out for free before (given your audience) and then take their money then that is enough for me to start throwing around the term.

In theory, their model is "fair", you get to see what you are going to get before you buy it and you can always decide to get the bundle or not (if you decide not to get it, be sure to cancel it on PayPal's side as well and don't assume the fairness extends to their charging scripts too because it doesn't).
Their first two bundles were quite good and worth the asking price so I don't see it as a loss at all. The rest of them were not on par with the first ones and up to a point it's understandable. Afterwards, I unsubscribed, seeing how the level was dropping each month and it was as wise decision.

Hopefully you used PayPal when you subscribed. If so, then it's easy to remove any subscription on PayPal's side and that guarantees no further charges or "mistakes". Never trust the vendor and always remove your subscription from PayPal's side as well.
