Howdy Guys!

So I just got a message on my profile by a person (bot?) I don't know saying "LOL! Is it your photo [LINK to a website called picturebanana] ? ahha nice dude :D"

I'm about 101% it's one of those "Pictures" that end with an .swr (or something like that) and I'm going to delete his comment right after reporting him, but I just wanted to know if there is any form of webiste that can tell me the content of a webpage without opening it myself. Something like a virtual machine for the interwebz.

Have a nice summer Guys!

I only wished I'd get a dime everytime I see a link like that... Would be enough to buy me new games...

Chrome does a good job at filtering bad links. Combine it with an adblocker and if the link is just for the click so they get ad money, you get a blank page.

The safest course of action is to not even worry and never click stupid shit like that.

Why would you want to scan the links? Do you intend to go to it after you see if it's "safe"?
Because it doesn't sound like your computer will last that long if this is the case.

I would never click it. I was just curious if a scanner could tell me what kind of file the site hides =)

Some of the big antivirus companies have link scanners but they only scan the website for download links and puts it past their database for known viruses.

Things like drive-by downloads and exploits wouldn't be picked up by these and your best bet is to just report those messages and block the people that send them because there is literally no good that would come out of clicking those links.

That is the actual purpose of sending those links, to fool people into clicking them and infecting them just for doing that.

It's called spam for a reason.
