A few months ago i moved my whole steam installed games folder to another drive, but now there are certain games that keep going blue, like Fluffy Friends and 64.0, games that aren't even getting updates anymore, but also games like Edge of Eternity and Kerbal Space Program (they get updates but not so many anymore).
Anyway i let them update, but after a few days they always come back as blue again, it's always the same ones.
i also tried deleting the games and reinstall them, but it doesn't fix it, and also tried to delete the catches through the client, anyone knows what's going on and how to fix this?

I have the same "problem" with ~20 games.
When i logout on steam and restart it i have them (with 0 kb download size) in the download tab.
Deactivating downloads before i want to play them, bring no, positive, result. The function don't care.

I ignore it now more or less .... the best i can do.

Yeah, i find it weird though if you delete the game (which should erase everything), then try to reinstall it, it still does the same thing, that could point to some file somewhere holding the information that it supposedly have updates.

One can only do nothing but then to ignore it, and with over 600 games installed i barely see it unless i scroll, but i guess it's still some OCD. :p

Does your drive connect and disconnect periodically? I think this happened to me a couple of times when my external drive where the games are installed on disconnected or flickered on and off for one reason or another, and Steam then basically didn't recognize the games as being installed when the drive flickered off. Then when it came back on, Steam wanted to verify the game content and it showed up as a blue line as if it needed to update. But it just goes through, checks the files and is back to normal.

See if the ones that keep turning blue are ones all installed on one particular drive, maybe that's what's happening to you.

No, all games are installed on a 2tb WD internal drive. About 600+, and only 10-20 games (like with Masafor) give this update issue thing.

https://imgur.com/T3sPyq7 You can see the 0 byte problematic ones, and Ace Combat 7 (both on the same drive) that does actually have an update.

Darn, that's weird indeed, not sure why then. Hope you find out and can educate the rest of us.

Yes, i have tried that, well last time when i moved things i lost half of it being recognized and had to reinstall all of them, because i didn't copy everything (the gamefiles but apparently i think it also needs the appmanifest files?).

I'm also getting up to 5 or 6 games queued up for 0kb updates once in a while. Its been years since I last changed the steam install directory/drive. I did reinstall windows a couple times since then, maybe that had something to do with it.

It doesn't take long to get through the "updates" but its mildly annoying.

Maybe, I also reinstalled windows here and there, or restored backups.

Because they are 0kb, and basically they don't anything since it keeps on saying new updates each time with the same games.

if it's the same apps... unless you actively play them, you could disable autoupdates for those apps? Or delete them :P

Not actively, just on a very long to do list with 600 games. :p

Fluffy Friends has a major lag in one of the levels and some impossible levels.
Edge of Eternity i waited till it came out of EA.
Kerbel Space Program is also something i only played once through a few tutorials but need to get back to.

But you make a good point, about manually stopping their updates, atleast for games that wouldn't get an update, atlhough i don't know about the games that might still get updates like Edge of Eternity, will it be forever stuck on 0kb when it might have an actual update? Or will that update override the 0kb thing?

[Edit] Well seems Edge of Eternity did have an actual update July 27.

Disable Autoupdate bring nothing. They still appear with 0kb updates.

https://windowsreport.com/steam-download-goes-to-0-bytes/ step 4 and 5.

I did those and it installed a few mb for Euro Truck Simulator and Steamworks Common Redistributables (even though i already had it), so far it looks good.. (only time will tell with this if it stays that way).

[Edit] Somehow now also my friend list looks different, or i had the old UI and changed to the new one.

It didn't eventually solved my problem though, there was no game that needed to be updated, and now it came back with even more games again. :x

That sucks, but at least its asking you to update games as opposed to forcing game updates on games that you explicitly set "Automatic Updates" to "Only update this game when I launch it".

Does that mean that they don't force Automatic Updates, but they can still force non-automatic updates? Because that nonsense is all I can gather from a few different posts about it on Steam forums or /r/Steam on reddit

It's saying there are updates but since they are 0kb there really aren't updates, or it's stuck in some limbo, and there are updates for them, but they register as 0kb.

I have no idea what I am talking about... But what about those folders under "userdata", what do they do?

Again: I have no idea what I am talking about.

They contain installed game folders (usually save games), program files, and it also has a steam folder, but apparently that only has some cache stuff, i tried deleting it, but didn't help.

Maybe found the solution here. https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/DQXljoy
