first things first, so why not let italy win

as usual, ...showerin': everybody wins. which is kinda different from "you always win", still being fair.

  • 3 Votes to cast, so, 3 countries to chose. Three Goooal! to shoot!
  • a Vote is good when given to an "influential" country. is Very good when that country is really far (far in the most general sense you can think of) from you. please forget CV, ratio, n° of ga's and all that stuff when choosing a country.
  • Votes will be summed up and each country will get ?
(100% personal) example: Sweden is "far" from me. tho, Canada is even more, and from my experience in SG, deserves my choice more than Sweden. won only one game from a canadian, still, they really seems to have great gaming tastes!

table already have my three votes: Netherlands, Canada and Ukraine.

this was a very old (clean!) thread, recycled.

so, that's the beginnings. (totally) missing the final part. as finals, thought something like region restricted giveaways for that country. i'd really like to make it so every country will win something.

also, as per keys: really ready to "sponsor" this with a "bunch" of bundled ones (as "the more of those country-living-winner-steamgifts-users will win, the better"), and really glad if you'll feel a "sponsoring" urge :D

but mostly, share how finals should be made. everything (from showering to engineering) is welcome.

South Korea cuz of the beautiful girls (and epic movie industry).
Netherlands cuz that's where my crush is from.
Japan cuz of the anime/manga stuff.
Sweden cuz of ... "reasons". What do you mean "you can't vote for your own country"?
Norway cuz of several epic Eurovision entries.
UK cuz I've always wanted to visit.

Ok, since I am from Brazil, I will pick:

  1. Canada (yeah, all Canadians I met were super nice.... with 1 exception, but he was nuts. :) )
  2. South Korea (super far from here, and I really admire their school results).
  3. Australia (also super far, and they deserve games to tolerate the horrors that inhabit there).

Cheers!

P.S.: Please, Australians, do not be mad at me, I was joking. Sort of.

France :

This is somewhat a controversial choice due to the colonial past and resulting grudges from both sides, but it's hard to deny that France is a country of art, literature and refined cuisine, so many things to do and see there, there are good reasons why France is still the most visited country on earth. If that wasn't enough, French is my second language and my dad majored in French literature.

I'll be moving there very soon for work, this will be my first long stay abroad, really exited about the new life ahead!

Trivia fact : Mbappé has an Algerian mother, or "French with Algerian roots" if you want to put it more accurately :)

The Netherlands :

Hey, what's not to like about the Netherlands ? Clean, beautiful towns built on canals, bicycles, tulips, world's best cheese, weed...

On a more serious note, our ties go back a long way in history, at some point, half of our admirals were Dutch (Zymen Danseker, Jan Janszoon van Haarlem, who went as far as Ireland and Iceland for raids, and many others), they had the best sailors and one of the largest fleets in the world.

So, I'll share a personal experience : a couple of months ago, we had two Dutch female teachers come here to present a three days workshop in my workplace, it turned out to be a great experience. In addition to the valuable training, it was a great occasion to learn about our respective countries and culture, the last day of the workshop happened to be the King's Day ("Koningsdag" in Dutch), a national holiday in the Netherlands, and since they were far from home, we settled to wear orange that day, as they do in the Netherlands, (I only had a tie in that color, but it was enough :D) to celebrate the occasion together and cheer them up, parting gifts were offered, it was only a small gesture, but still a great example of cultural exchange, our guests were delighted.

It went really well and left me with a nice impression on Dutch people, straightforward and honest, and these are among the traits I like best.

Sweden :

I like how noble causes such as Human Rights, Gender Equality and the Environment are at the heart of their foreign policy, and there's the fact that Nordic countries are among the few states in the world that always fulfill their engagements when it comes to international aid towards developing countries, which is highly commendable.

I truly have a lot of respect and admiration for statesmen like Hjalmar Branting, Dag Hammarskjöld and Olof Palme, the latter was a friend of Algeria and there's a public street/garden named on him here in the capital. Strong idealists (a bit like myself), proponents of peace who believed in peaceful solutions to international and regional conflicts and worked towards this goal, thus contributing to the betterment of humanity, each in his own way/era. God, how we need people like them in our troubled times, with the likes of Donald Trump in power.

I also have been reading quite a bit of Swedish literature of late, I'd love to learn Swedish someday, a beautiful musical and melodic language. I am planing a Scandinavian tour for my next summer vacations, if I save enough money. I love the history, culture, Norse mythology, music, and nature there is simply stunning, all year round.

As for distance, Europe is just around the corner, Paris is closer to Algiers than some of our southern cities, the Netherlands is just a little bit farther, Sweden is quite far at the other hand (but it's still only like, a 4 & 1/2 hours trip to reach Stockholm by plane, nearly the same time it would take to move from Alberta to Ottawa). The world is getting smaller by the day, I say it's about time we seek new planets to live on.

Anyway, plenty of other lovely countries on the list (and also not included there), but let's just stick to three and stop here, I tend to forget this is a gaming community :p

PS : Cheers for such a positive thread!
