Hi all,

I read a lot of people asking for a minium hours to create a Giveaway, like a 24h or 12h minium to give people time to visit the webpage, because with 1h GA people feels an obligation to keep an eye here.
Maybe one solution can be a "Official" SG App for mobilephone, I know we have one (Post Here), and Im very happy with it, but maybe CG can release an official one (or kt add a new feature) with the option to get notifications when a new GA is in your whislist.
Then people doesnt need to check the website often, and the app can do an automatic whislist check every 15 mins or something like that.

Other option, is an automatic email, but this can charge a lot the SG Servers.

Regards.

What do you think?

Sounds nice, an automatic process only to know if a Whislisted game is on a new GA
No, you have to check the website on your own
Bleh~~

why is there a sudden anxiety with short giveaways?

It's a sign of the times of this constantly connected, modern information era. The fear of missing out on something.
News, drama, gibs ;)

Got curious and searched if their is already a medical term for it.. and yeah, of course: FoMO (at least, it's simple).

It's not the length that matters but that people want to get on it!

Before: "Hey, look, a couple of games I wanted are on a flash giveaway. Glad I have these points lying around (some of which were kindly generated by people offering giveaways of games I don't care for) so I can enter."

Now: "Shit, I can enter one of these and then wait for the other giveaway to be almost over so I can enter that one too, as the amount of points does not depend on how active the site has been lately."

People can't use autojoiners anymore so they miss those.

Cause CG made a whole point of the point-system being to "allow for people to visit the site once or twice a day".

Which is just BS at this point.

that was just one part of the "benefits" included with this new system, problem is people focused on it like short givewaways are the new devil walking on sg.

It's just counter the point CG had for this update. So it makes sense to point it out.
It was made out the single reason people are glued here are not to miss out points when maxed, when in reality, we just don't want to miss flashes like good addicts.

the good thing for that kind of user is they now have a lot of spare time to play their wins while points recharge, instead of entering for more and more games they will just use to +1 their libraries. ^^

There were 1hour long wishlisted giveaways before the change as well. If you check the site, you'll notice them. If you don't check it, you won't even notice that they happened, and what one doesn't know, can't hurt them. Nobody can be everywhere at the same time, it's inevitable that we're losing out of giveaways, store discounts, seeing our crush at a crossroad, meeting a celebrity at a store, etc. I can't see why is this such a problem.

No. Flash giveaways are "flash" for a reason - to reward the people on-site at the time.
(correction: or because someone really wants their CV nowwwwwwww!)

I don't want reward someone nor I care about the CV. It's more like a game for me. :D

Why not do both? Go for the 12h minimum - 24h seems overkill.
On top of this simply leave the flash GAs in but make it so they cost less points AND are worth less CV.
The fluctuation of lower points and CVs plays well into the quick-fire flash GA economy.

Ok, edit my post because somewhere along the lines of reading comments, I forgot the purpose of the topic, and made a response like it was a complaint about flash giveaways and that they should be removed. I'll still state they shouldn't, but I'll save the explanation why. As for an app, I don't really care. I'd still miss flash giveaways like I do now, and like I did before the change. Honestly not a big deal to me.

I'm only on sg between getting back from work and going to sleep anyway, plus on and off on weekends. So I don't have a need for change now that the point distribution changed. I missed a lot of flash GAs due to timezone differences and work anyway.
And I wouldn't be interested in that app, due to not being able to use a smartphone at work (security risk).

On the one hand, an alert that a wishlisted game is on a giveaway would be nice. On the other hand, I fear that may lead to more flash giveaways.

I check SG 1-3 times a day, whenever I happen to have some free time and can hop on the computer. I don't really want to have to check it more often, or have to feel like I'm rushing because my phone notified me of a giveaway that I might miss out on. I'd almost prefer to not know and miss out on the giveaway if it means missing out on the associated stress.
