After not winning com on here, I finally traded in some games and got the ps3 version. Its been way too long since I really enjoyed a good turn based strategy game. I love it. Now if I could win a steam version.

What else am I missing out on in this genre? Frankly its been awhile since I touched the Civ series or Heroes of Might & Magic series.

Go find some way to play Fire Emblem now. Excellence in turn based strategy.

I've honestly never played it myself, but as I understand Frozen Synapse is a TBS with a bit of a difference. Give the demo a shot?

I was inspired to finally give it a serious try after watching a WTF vid. I can't say I'm disappointed, game is really good, but can be hard.

Silent Storm (please vote) is one of the most amazing games in the genre.

Jagged Alliance 2 -- I love this game, but it's from 1999, so... yeah.

It's still an amazing Turn-Based combat game. To be honest, it's even better than the latest remake.

Frozen Synapse (A TBS Real Time game, where you and your opponent give commands to your squads but the action unfolds in real time)

Dungeons of Dredmor (turn based Rogue Like, really really nice)

Endless Space (4X space game, great soundtrack, Combats a little week but i enjoyed it)

Fallen Enchantress (it's like Civs with RPG elements)

On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Eps 1-3 (An RPG with some cringe worthy humor)

I own all those i mentioned except the 3 Ep for Rain slick and i can honestly say i enjoyed them

+1 for UFO: Afterlight
Unfortunately not very well known, but out of all the UFO games that one was my absolute favourite. Wish there were more...

They are good, but some moments are really ridiculously painful, and the games suffer from a way too long game time (40+ hours for Warriors of the North) which is only there by having 100s of the same fights and back and forth quests.

A game that is very good and just like Xcom only it doesn't have aliens in it: Hammer and Sickle and before it was Silent Storm (it has an expasion), great games. Old, but even better then simplified Xcom on some levels.

Oh YES! Silent Storm was amazing, as the setting was quite different from all the TB games we had at the time. The ending part sucks, but you can actually mod it to remove it, so it's all good :)

My three favorites in the past have been Heroes of Might & Magic 3, Alpha Centauri, and Fallout 2. I could never get enough of those. I think Xcom is going to make that list. Oh, and the Microprose Magic The Gathering games.

Blood Bowl can be a lot of fun once you get the hang of it, although it's admittedly not the most noob-friendly game.

Star Wars: Empire at War's a fun strategy game, but it rarely recieves any giveaways due to it being 20 bucks.
