I won (edit:got) a giveaway on Discord last month (only realized last week lol) for CoD Black Ops Cold War and Far Cry 6. I tried both the codes on their respective platforms, but none of them worked. Turns out, these are codes from hardware bundles and OG gave it away since he didn't have the hardware to activate them. Now both these games are very high on my wishlist and reeeeallly wnnnt to play them, so I'd really appreciate it if someone here could help me with activation. The hardware requirements I found were as follows:

  • Call of Duty Cold War: RTX 3080 or 3090 (needs to be redeemed on GeForce Experience and then linked to Battle.net) Thanku sooo much thoughtfulhippo for helping me out with this!! Absolute delight of a person in going the lengths they did to help me :3
  • Far Cry 6: Ryzen 5800X, 5900X, 5950X, 3950X, 3900XT and 3800XT (needs to be redeemed on AMD rewards)

Thank you for reading through and, in case you missed it, enjoy the gib :3

Oh my bad. Precisely as you pointed out, COD has to be redeemed on GeForce Experience and linked to my Battle.net account and FC6 needs to be redeemed on AMD rewards. I'll update the post with the same. Thanku for mentioning :3

They used to do that but not it's tied to hardware to limit their resale.

Easy, just buy a 3090 and a 5950X and enjoy the games on Ultra :P

If only :3 Honestly though, prices here in LATAM are insane. Invested what I had into a decent gaming laptop as my old laptop was getting, well, old. And my PC was not able to keep up. Got a pretty good deal IMO. RTX 2060+i7 9750h for around 1200usd equivalent :3

I'm sorry, if i'm wrong, but It feels like original giveaway creator probably mentioned that you would need specific hardware and instead of not participating and letting other people who actually have said hardware win, you joined and now looking for a way to cheat the system, instead of giving it away again, as original owner did.

It's just a small community of online friends, and the gifter said it's fine if I decided to give it away even. I'm guessing the OG got it from somewhere as well :p

If no-one else offers, I can help with CoD. I've a 3090 but would need to install Windows & GeForce Experience. You presumably would need to give me temporary access to your Battle.net account.

Oh you don't use Windows? :0 I guess asking you to have to install an entire OS would be too much to ask. Still, I'll add you on Steam. I understand that you'll need temporary access to my acc. I'd be fine with that :3

Linux only. But I've a spare disk and probably can survive dual-booting Windows for 30 mins! Add me on Steam to discuss.

Can't you do it in a VM to not lose uptime.

Probably, but I'd have to fiddle with gpu passthrough which I haven't done for a while.

I imagine it would be pretty hard for you to play games with Linux only :P

I guess you need to work on your imagination then. I've been managing fine for the last 7 years or so.

Really? How did you deal with Windows games?

Well I've never gamed on Windows - so there aren't any Windows-only games I miss.
I only buy games that support Linux. If I buy a bundle that contains Windows-only games, then I only keep those that I'm interested in and are supported by Valve Proton. The remainder I giveaway here.
Finally, I use Google Stadia for Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk.

In reddit there are a few subs where people help activate games in a certain hardware (mostly on trading subs), for what I've seen it'll cost you tho

Yep, usually about $10 per activation because you can only activate one copy of the game per hardware. Games without activation cost about $10 less than with activation as well so if you own the hardware but didn't get that promo, you can get it at a cheaper price and the seller can get paid to activate someone else's. It's also a bit risky so most people do it on discord screen sharing.

I checked, and most are asking for 10 usd lowest. Quite costly for me :(

I suggest going to some high end stores, they often have PCs to show off/demonstrate or for customer to test. Or high end Internet cafe. You can do anything there yourself.

Just a suggestion, you might want to try one of the gaming forums on reddit Here are a few that might help:

1: indiegameswap
2: steamgameswap
3: gamebundles

I have seen others ask for what you need and have received help in those forums. Good luck.

Did you install and launch CoD ? I had trouble running the game with this promo, if you are stuck with connection failed message at launch (then back to desktop), come back to me, I may be able to help you.

Surprisingly not actually! Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I think I know the issue you faced. I had the same issue with Overwatch. It just kept trying to connect to the server but just kept failing and back to start screen. I believe it was region issue or something like that. Regardless, thanku for looking out :3

It used to be possible to pass the hardware check for the CPU by simply modifying a registry value in Windows. Maybe that's worth a try?
