And yet feminists target the gaming community..

Feminists are a joke. They target everything they can. They don't even know what they fight for anymore. Mainstream music is still good if you know where to look. Also, don't tell me you're one of those people who dislikes everything that's on the radio today just because it doesn't sound like anything from before the 2000's.

Nope I do enjoy the occasional song I hear on the radio but songs that make top charts that are songs that offer no unique or poetic content, or even a video such as the one you featured which is a video that arguably similar to most 'mainsteam' music that I see, it is clear that music is more of a business than an art within the mainstream media, but you are correct, but I am saying in regards to the trending music, musicians such as Adele and others if I was more interested in the buisness are highly welcome, but I do enjoy all types of music including some the music that I would be hating, I do not mind if true feminists have a true problem that is understandable but when they target such stupid areas and when they try to limit creativity because of what they want, its irritates me, but to me the popular feminists or SJW such as the infamous Anita fight for more than equality or dare I say somesort of revenue, when the true feminists trying to achieve proper equality are overlooked.

I feel that feminism is kinda like religion in a sense, and as such, we should not stereotype the entire notion due to a bunch of "extremist" banded together.

+1 Same can be said for every group, gaming also, which is why they always target us, but I do not mind as long as its justified.

Oh, I do not stereotype. I just think the notion of feminism is stupid and ridiculous. And it's worth mentioning that feminism ends for every feminist when there's a need of bringing a fridge onto the 20th floor.

I think its a few feminists that are making Feminism itself bad, though I would not go as far as calling the whole thing ridicoulous as there are feminists who are not obnoxious who tend not to pull the 'misogyny' card :D

Don't get extremist feminism mixed up with real feminism. I agree that extremist feminism is extremely stupid and backwards. However, real feminism is what won rights for women to vote, to voice an opinion, to seek help when abused, etc. Don't lump that in with the stupid shit on the internet.

Weeknd's new songs are mostly about sex though. But his album Trilogy is a critic-acclaimed masterpiece. One of the best albums ever released in the history of music.

don't get me wrong, Nas is great, Rakim is great, but the rest of those rappers are pretty fucking thick headed. i don't like just hip-hop, i have a much more broader taste, but some of my fav. rappers/hip-hop groups are aesop rock, el-p, eyedea, shabazz palaces, shad, jedi mind tricks, Foreign Beggars, and Ces Cru. now those are some rapper with wit, flow, and not mentally challenged cough DMX cough

I didn't say they where my personal favorites, but all of them have made a name for themselves being "rappers" in their respective genre, you're clearly into the social movement kinda rappers ( surprised you have no love for big shug/Gangstarr, mos def & dead prez, especially dead prez!) which is only 1 specific genre within hiphop.

My taste differs at times, like now after the summer i'm slowly transitioning back from upbeat artists like Vybz kartel, Gnarls Barkley, Anthony Hamilton, The Roots, Nappy Roots & Dilated Peoples to grimier artists like Kano, Eazy E, Gangstarr, M.O.P. Blacks, sizzla & Tempa T.
Overall I'm really into the music I grew up with in the 90's though, that'd be Nas, DMX, Bone thugs, Guru & Big Shug, Busta Rhymes his early work & basically any track that DJ Premier has worked on.

DMX has terrible vocabulary. Period. I don't mind if an artist is underground or not, if they're good and popular, cool. If they're cool and underground, then that is also cool. I like much more thought provoking rappers, Aesop Rock is an artist that will make you THINK. There is always something new to pull out of verbose or obscure artists. El-P is by far my favourite producer and his beats are some of the most satisfying things to listen to, some people might argue "well just because someone has a bigger vocabulary doesn't mean they're instantly smarter!" to a degree this is true, but for my personal taste, lyrics that promote me to learn new words and see the tasteful art of diction can really open up people's eyes.

I listen to a lot of music. The problem with most music is that it bores me. Today's r'n'b is all about the same shit over and over again. What Weeknd and Illangelo did with trilogy was a breeze of fresh air in the genre. Dark aspect of the music if you will. I'm finding out about new artists every day but there are really not many that catch my attention.

Abel is one of the greatest singers of the last few years and he has proven that with Trilogy. It's a shame though that Kiss Land was worse and the newest songs are even worse than Kiss Land. But still, his skills as a singer are outstanding and if you know a thing or two about music or singing you're bound to agree.

Meh. I was into underground music for so many years up to the point that I got bored with it to the extreme. "Underground is the best!", "we don't care about money!", "fuck mainstream music!" yada, yada, yada... underground artists claiming that stuff become exactly the same as mainstream artists who put lyrics about money, sex and fame in every song. I was against mainstream for so many years just to realize it was stupid and close-minded. Mainstream has a lot to offer if you know where to look.

How to Dress Well is pretty good but the problem is that most of his songs sound the same. And he doesn't switch his type of singing at all which, again, makes him sound the same all the time. But yeah, he's good.

to each his own, but i can kinda see where you're coming from, but if you pay deep attention there is some musical motifs you can pick up that make the songs differ. i don't find he needs to switch up his singing style at all, his falsetto is beautiful and that's all i'd need from him. keep in mind that i listen to artists like mike patton and devin townsend, so different style of voices is something i get out of my metal, not generally my r&b, consistency can be good in its own right.

Comment has been collapsed.

I listen to all kind of genres. But mostly I listen to r'n'b and rap music. Sometimes I also listen to metal (various kinds, sometimes doom, sometimes heavy, sometimes metalcore but I'd say that heavy is my favorite one), sometimes to electronic, experimental and stuff I don't even know what genre it belongs to like Gang Gang Dance or El Huervo. I also listen to tons of soundtracks. I'm very open minded when it comes to music :)

sweet, i'd say my favourite rappers are el-p, aesop rock, and nacho picasso. i also like very out there experimental hip-hop groups like death grips, shabazz palaces and cLOUDEAD. for me i pretty much can get something out of every genre, i like all types of metal, from progressive metal to grindcore to black metal to drone and doom metal to pretty much everything else. i like a lot of electronic music, that is where the roots of my first artists that i enjoy stem from, things like deadmau5, tycho, ulver, apparat, all that. i love, love, love indie artists, especially when they bring a fresh take opposed to a run of the mill "we are indie!" approach to it that too many indie artists do. some folk/blue grass/country music also interests me, the wood brothers, sun kil moon, the devil makes three, just to name a few :)

Hey thanks man! I appreciate your open mindedness and understanding of both pop music and experimental, it's a very cool trait! I say, if people explore their musical taste and have a grasp of what they like, and know what they like, they in my books have good musical taste, regardless if they like what i like or not. :)

What're we talking about here, by the way? Bad music?

Seems like you have no idea what autotune is. Hint, no it's not a properly mastered and mixed song.

Before you make such accusation watch his live videos and then speak on it.

It sounds like it's overly-autotuned. I know what AT sounds like when used properly, and when it's done to the point of making your ears bleed.

Why would I be interested in his live videos? Serious question, by the way. Does it sound different than the song you shared? Because it messed with my Misophonia so bad that I had to pop a pain pill and lie down for an hour.
