The list will update, but most of them just marked playable seem to be because the text may be too small, on screen controller or mouse icons will appear or you'll need to invoke a virtual keyboard/have a real one plugged in at some point, a few mention anti-cheat issues as well.

Valve posted that link in a Steam Deck deposit announcement yesterday: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1675180/view/3113679892632291880

I can already see a lot of games I'd play on the Deck on the the verified list alone.

6% — not bad for a start. There are enough games to keep me occupied for years already. The games that would fit Steam Deck perfectly. If I would be able to afford it someday...

Things to understand: While I have an almost absurd number of games, loads of them were gotten in LARGE bundles when I had a potato of a laptop that not only had an integrated GPU and then migrated to a better laptop a friend gave me that had a discreet GPU but tended to overheat when stressed. Add to that my longtime Humble subscription... So lots of what I own are garbage or garbage I added from a bundle because they dropped cards. Once upon a time games were getting cranked out mostly for the purpose of dropping cards. Suffice it to say that I own a LOT of crappy RPG Maker games.
I also own a lot of VR games, which are all unplayable on the Deck unless they support "flat" play as well.
I don't think anyone should be put off by the lowish percentages. Consider the types of games you'd WANT to play on a handheld. I want this for casual games, turn-based strategy games without much reading involved and the like.
As Steam Deck's install base increases we will probably start to see developers tailor their games to it, or set up a "Deck mode" that is preset to work well on the Deck. Kind of like how developers port games to the Switch or how they dumb down PC VR games to sell on the Quest store.

Another thing to keep in mind, even the big SSD is just 500 GB. Yes you can add memory cards which won't be too much slower. This isn't going to be a device to replace your PC with. It's something to play with away from your gaming rig, something to take on the plane and play some games on rainy days during your vacation. Something to keep your kids quieter in the back seat during a trip.

Why can be Watch dogs 2 verified?
Edit: The anti-cheat is not supported.
I hope Valve had working on it.

what I find strange is that among the games listed as unsupported I have many that work perfectly under linux or even have native versions.
I'm guessing the actual playable list will be around 70% for most of us.
the show stoppers are most of the time:
anti cheat.technologies
game launchers or intro videos, sometimes you have to tweak things to skip them and then everything works
games that were made with .net or xna, I've never been able to run one of those

weird that nekopara vol 2 and 3 don't work at all when 0 extra and 4 do fully

It's interesting that my wishlist is more playable than my library:
VERIFIED: 44 games (10.33%)
PLAYABLE: 38 games (8.92%)
UNSUPPORTED: 9 games (2.11%)
UNKNOWN: 335 games (78.64%)
I think that's because my wishlist has a higher proportion of popular or non-indie games than my game library does.

i just leaned of a site called
https://checkmydeck.herokuapp.com/
It is telling you how much of your Steam games library is compatible with Steam Deck (or more likely been rated and reviewed)
how much of you account is compatible mine is 2%
Also if you could mention a few games (maybe try to say ones others have not mentioned) which are verified or playable
i can see business tour and fallout shelter are verified (not got time to go though my whole list)
official page on Steam itself (although according to some it shows different numbers to check my deck) = https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck/mygames
