there has been a few season passes that were worth it like wrestleing games and mma also the walking dead season pass when it was being develouped and la noir but other than thoses games i agree especiall because alot of the game minus the ones i said dont release enough stuff to even make a season pass worth it

Well there are roughly 100 heroes in DOTA, then everyone I suppose has different sets. Moreover there's also Couriers, announcers, HUDskins and so on. Chances to get the VERY set you want are kinda slim :-p
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah I guess you could trade for them. To be honest I don't really know how common items are on DOTA and that. But they have an economy similary to that of TF2.

It's (apparently only some of) the DLC for the game. You can pre-purchase it with the Season Pass, usually for about $10 than it would be to buy them individually as they were released.
Comment has been collapsed.
No, it is a pack of (normally) all the DLC released over a time period. It is similar to preordering a game and sometimes isn't available after the first one or two dlc are released. You buy it in addition to the base game.

A season pass, by definition, is supposed to be basically a pre-order for major DLC items. Gears of War 3's season pass gave the mack packs and Raam's Shadow as they became available, Saints Row 3 gave the Space movie missions, The Genkibowl games, and the funny Genetic nightmare missions, as Mortal Kombat gave the 4 DLC characters that were later released with the game as the Komplete Edition. To my knowledge, Season Passes, haven't always given every bit of DLC available.

Season passes give the major DLC releases.
they are usually priced with a discount then buying all major DLC separately, (usually a 10% to 25% discount)
They'll then have Minor DLC that is extra (usually 99 cents to 1.99) that is a small addition to the game (say a few items or a skin, maybe a companion.)

Season pass kinda implies ALL DLC that is being released. I mean it's a SEASON pass. Not a "Here's the big DLC stuff but not the mini DLC" pass.
It's only a matter of time before companies try doing 2 season passes per game.....
1 season pass for MAPS/game modes.
1 season pass for costumes and crap.

"If we went by the season logic, then we'd have to buy the bloody thing again every year or so, wouldn't we?"
Well you do. lol (For yearly released games, COD and ASS CREED)
Comment has been collapsed.
well, there's your answer guys. He claims that season passes are a scam because he expects to get all DLCs released on the game IF someone bought the season pass.
When did season pass implied that you'll get all DLC? It is specifically written in the store's description on what you should expect on a season pass. Maybe you should try reading more to be informed first before spouting utter crap llke this.
BL2: Grab the Borderlands 2 Season Pass and get access to four downloadable content packs for Borderlands 2 at one discounted price
AC3: Save big when you pick up all of the five Assassin’s Creed III DLC packs in the Season Pass!
B:I : Get three add-ons for the price of two
You should rename your title to "I buy season pass, I expect all DLC just like max payne q.q"

"It is specifically written in the store's description on what you should expect on a season pass. "
I of course know that as I don't buy shit willy nilly. But the average consumer probably thinks "Season pass? That means all DLC!"
I guess you could blame it on them for not reading the product description. But I don't see how you can defend getting only some DLC.
Comment has been collapsed.
Your point? even you assume that an "average" consumer doesn't r read the product description, how can you justify that season passes are scam if tells you what are the included dlc's on it?
I can defend the logic behind because season passes doesn't scam you.

Stop buy'n their games and keep bitch'n at 'em!! I stop'd buy'n EA games the instant they pull'd it.. all my poor sports games I miss out on. But they are greedy bastards sell'n 1/2 ass games anyways. They still send me surveys and I rip on 'em everytime. I doubt they ever read my comments but related to the 1-5 typical vote anything involving the obnoxious amount of money they want get's an instant 1.. Like 10 dollars for a pack of digital cards kind of crap.

you sir are a good consumer. this is what people need to do. quit being a tool and live without for god sake, and if your that much of a zombie you need this crap go see the pirate at the bay. you'll prabably get a better game since he gives you ALL dlc and no connection errors.
i never buy new games untill they sell a complete collection but games like darksiders 2 steam complete was still missing 1 dlc. wtf!
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, people should stop ONLY bitching and start to vote with wallets. Yes people grow some balls (aside of ladies, please don't literally grow them ;p) and resign from next title with Season Pass, always online DRM D3/ Simcity style or microtransactions even if that is your beloved next Assasin Creed, Mass Effect, Call of Duty or some mmo.

You got that right. That's the only reason it continues to get worse and worse because so many people are paying for their downloadable crap. They're making a fortune by ripping everyone off.

I found DLC annoying at first. Expansions and extra content that's developed due to a games success is a different story. This specific issue is annoying to say the least though. I understand the argument that it's a different type of content being offered, but if I'm buying something as a bundle most of the time I want the convenience of having everything, without having to hunt down one or two little things.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually would be funny if they made one and charged like 50 cents lolol.

Agreed, honestly I thought the guys who did Borderlands were ok with the DLC during the Borderlands 1 days, it seemed fair, once they released the Mecromancer(Which by the way does not look like 10 dollars worth of content) and decided to not put it in the Season Pass I was a bit aggravated, then they released 100 DLC packs.
I just...why?....Why? Seems so messed up and greedy.
Comment has been collapsed.
You got it because you pre-ordered.
The Mecromancer pack is 10 bucks separately from the Season pack or so I have been told.

How about that "GameStop exclusive" Creature Slaughter Dome? First it was only for customers of a US based store, disabling anyone outside the US getting it, which is fucking horrible enough. Then, later, they throw it up on the store for a few euros / dollars, thus removing the whole reason people who went to GameStop to buy it did it for, aside from the fact that it's a content-less DLC that only adds one arena-based shooting environment with nothing else new..
Comment has been collapsed.
How? It was a Gamestop Exclusive pre-order bonus.. You have Gamestops there?
Comment has been collapsed.
"They're only costumes!" Except for the few short maps that have already been creeping in (Slaughterdome, for example.) The problem is that when they can get away with this, they can get away with more. And if you don't believe me, you need only look at the past, which is exactly what has happened with gaming.
They got away with expansion packs, so they introduced DLC. They got away with DLC, so they released day 1 DLC, they got away with day 1 DLC, so they started season passes, they got away with season passes so they released mostly cosmetics outside of the season pass.

I don't like SP and DLC personally, yet micro transactions are an other topic.
Comment has been collapsed.
Microtransactions can be fine, but the issue is that they usually end up costing more. For example, Blacklight just came out with a pack that includes ALL content for 100 dollars. Normally, I call something that includes all content a videogame and pay at most 60 when it's new.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, when we're talking about BL2 season pass, it was quite clearly said in good time before launch that it would contain the four first major DLC expansions, not including Mechromancer character DLC, which was a pre-order bonus. I'm not exactly a huge fan of DLC, but they have delivered exactly what they've promised - well, apart from the expansions being shorter than they implied before release, but they've still been decent enough additions. As for the rest of the DLC they've released, there's nothing there anybody needs, just bling for people who for one reason or another want to spend some buck on it.
Comment has been collapsed.
We are just a vocal minority, enough people(idiots imo) pay for them up front, this is why companies keep doing it. Same with map packs, character costumes, etc
Comment has been collapsed.
I am proud to be an idiot! ya know, you were the one that convinced me to buy the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass! tsk tsk ;)

In my opinion .. a DLC released after a game as been out for some time (the way it used to be) is an ok thing to do as it was happening for games that became popular and for which the companies decided to put more time in development to release extra content. Sadly that's not the way it's done anymore by most big companies. Now it's part of their plan to strip some content of the game to suck off extra cash from the players by forcing them to buy a Season Pass or single DLC to get this content. First-Day DLCs and Season Pass are stupid and a pretty crummy way to treat customers who just had to throw 50-60$ to get your game.
And even worst now is EA promising to include micro-transactions in every new release they come up with.. So now you're gonna have to pay 60$ for the game .. get a Season Pass and pay even more for those nicer weapons and items that won't be part of the game you bought unless you spend the extra cash.

Fuckeries, see in Black Ops 2 I'd like all the Zombie maps, but the season pass on the ps3 costs £43 which is like £8 more than on pc and 360. So fuck those guys. I guess I'll stick to my standard maps and be sad. And to think that that £43 is supposedly cheaper than buying the dlc's individually...
Comment has been collapsed.
useless dlc are bullshit-
season pass are extra bullshit because that means they will make some forced dlcs.
day 0 dlcs that are exclusive only to those who participate in the biggest scam in gaming industrie called "pre-order" are the biggest bullshit ever.
Comment has been collapsed.
The Borderlands Season pass has absolutely been worth it.
The bundling of DLC isn't an issue anyone should have. The issue is DLC, and games having development cycles than PLAN on a year or more of more content after launch. Them offering that cheaper, or the complaint about them offering that for cheaper seems really dumb to me. "How dare they offer me 25% off all DLC!?" "THOSE BASTARDS! Get the pitchforks!"
If you want to complain about them having DLC, go nuts, I'm with ya. But if you don't know what you're getting into with DLC... this late in the game, you're kind of an idiot. You know what DLC a CoD/Battlefield is going to have. You know what kind of DLC Borderlands is going to have, get it if you want it, don't if you don't.
Comment has been collapsed.
well, yeah is annoying, but is the new business model, and i'm more concern in others problem (by example, the stupidly heavy DRM and the microtransactions of the "pay for cheats" style... and the lack of mod support of the lastest games)...
and with borderlands 2, the season pass is fine, what is bugging me about that game is the fucking lack of bug fixes and patches... the loot is still getting under the terrain sometimes, or simple blowing far away from the reachable area... and the menues, even when they said that they fixed them, they didn't, and they are still fucked up.
Comment has been collapsed.
I always thought of it like does it add anything to the story? It's in the season pass. If it doesn't, it's a separate thing. I'm relatively fine with it in regards to Borderlands 2 because those not included in the season pass aren't really hurting anybody. But it's sure as heck hard missing out on Mechromancer. That girl's rad. XD
Also I'm pretty sure there will be a GOTY version at some point that will include the season pass and a Gold edition that will include everything. XD

As if season pass weren't bad enough trying to suck more money out of us, it seems the new trend is to make DLC and not even put it in the season pass.
Games that come to my mind this moment.
-Borderlands 2
-Darksiders 2
And now recently Black OPs 2(They added Micro transactions.)
Why must publishers keep doing this...
I wonder what the next bullshit next scam will be...
