No, I'm not one month late with the news.

Article link

Personally, I'm kinda puzzled about this. They were making steady money while on Steam and pulling 60k players regularly. I'm curious to see how the things will change once they're Epic exclusive.

UPDATE:
https://twitter.com/verge/status/1123712530227048450
"Update: While Epic’s original statement strongly hinted Rocket League would be pulled from Steam, the company now says it will announce "long-term plans" for the game in the future"

I do not understand the English language anymore.

but then you are not supporting competition, you want someone to take down Steam, by following exclusivity then you are just gone be wist away by whoever has money, then by that logic not the best company, not the best service, just the one with the more money will win.

GOG sales are good, Rockstar Social club has sold as many copies on PC as the Steam ver of GTA V did, they both did it by offering lower prices and in case of GOG different products.

You seem to want someone to take down Steam, not because they might offer a better service, but because Steam is bad an period.

Very good market "competition" with buying games with fake exclusivity for crappy launchers. You asked for that? You got it!

If I have to move to the epic fail launcher to play RL I'm going to be so mad I quit. To think I was going to buy the fancy pay for extra crap thing! I really am beginning to hate "Epic" Games.

I wonder where all you guys and outrage where when EA bought BioWare. MS bought InXile and Obsidian. MS bought the Hellblade devs. ActiVision and Blizzard merged. Etc. Etc.
Buying other companies is literally nothing special but like freebies (If HB does it it's fine... oh, IGN. Another one! But Epic it's "evil bribe money") if Epic does the same everyone else, including Valve does it's the devil and and evil plot with evil money from evil Fortnite. Gone with "money doesn't smell".

I can understand the rage. After all, it is absolutely unprecedented that a publisher buys a developer studio and tries to integrate their existing work into their own models. (Even though it was stated above that RL will not be Epic exclusive, but heavens forbid the people here don't jump on the first half-sentence to bash on Epic Games nowadays.)
Furthermore, it was revealed that Epic invented the time machine and they are the ones responsible for converting the free Counter-Strike into a paid game that evolved into the first large-scale lootbox gambling model. They were the ones who bought id Software and turned their free Quake Live into a paid game. They were the ones who removed Dragon Age II from Steam to make it and its sequel Origin exclusive. Furthermore, we even uncovered their dirtiest secret: they were the ones who removed League of Legends from Steam to create a separate launcher for it, never updating the old version ever again. Also, Tim Sweeney is a hologram, the real leader of EPic is Jar-Jar Binks.

It is. I am surprised Tencent hasn't just bought Bluehole a few months after PUBG lifted off. I am also quite surprised Bluehole hasn't ditched Steam to create their launcher to avoid the same Valve tax Riot also inadvertently dodged with their standalone launcher.
I wonder how people would react if they did.

Do people still play PUBG? I thought most left for Fortnite or Apex Legends.
Not that I really keep tabs, not a fan of Battle Royale.

I doubt the outcry would be so severe. It seems mostly aimed at a specific company, not the actions. Same with Origins, and that passed.
And if the literal dEAvil in the gaming community can pass over I am sure Epic will do too. One way or the other.

Yep,I agree.
I did however get 400hrs in, so I had fun, and got my monies worth.
Still, I don't think it'll be gone, and especially on PS4, which, at least client-wise, shouldn't be affected, even if Steam does eventually.

Not only that he is not knowing this for sure, it's not true.
There is even a link here to a topic where you can find the info:
https://www.usgamer.net/articles/epic-promises-support-for-rocket-league-on-all-platforms-no-announced-plans-to-pull-it-from-steam

"We reached out to Epic Games and Psyonix who have offered this clarification: "We are continuing to sell Rocket League on Steam, and have not announced plans to stop selling the game there." An Epic spokesperson added, "Rocket League remains available for new purchasers on Steam, and long-term plans will be announced in the future."

Furthermore, Epic clarified that support for Rocket League on Steam will continue even after the game is released on the Epic Games Store and players "will still be able to play Rocket League on Steam with all of the content they've previously purchased, same as always.""

As i guy who played RL for about 1700 hours, i wasn't really happy with this news.. but Psyonix kinda cared about the community. Yes they went for the cash but come on if you can get it more cash to support your project more wouldn't you do it?

Don't get me wrong, i fucking hate the shit that Epic is doing, i hate that Psyonix joined them as well, but as long as they dont ruin what they already built i am kinda fine with it, but no one really knows what's gonna happen so we just have to wait and see. Hope this 'exclusivity' thing on pc dies very soon.

Im not an Epic hater, nor have I used the platform yet, but I will say im not a fan of these Epic exclusives, or literally any exclusive on any platform. Its very understandable why some things might be exclusive, but in the case of a lot of whats going on with Epic right now, the only reason for exclusivity is to lock developers to their platform and deny consumers a choice, theres few if any technical reasons for the exclusivity. I think Epic could be a viable platform with a bit of work, but the stuff they're pulling in the meantime does not inspire much confidence or approval of their business practices. Worse I believe is that the spin they are trying to put on things with their marketing department is crossing the line of being outright deceptive.

To be fair the statement that they posted is technically true, they have not "announced" plans to stop selling the game on Steam, yet. Thats what the 'long term plans' are for. Additionally them continuing to "support" the game on Steam does not answer whether or not it will still be available for purchase on Steam. So while 'true' theres a lot written between those lines.

Their intention seemed pretty clear when they wrote: "In the meantime, it will continue to be available for purchase on Steam; thereafter it will continue to be supported on Steam for all existing purchasers." The second half of that statement isnt necessary if their intent was to continue to sell it on Steam since if its being sold on Steam, it would also be supported on Steam. Additionally, no reason to clarify 'for all existing purchasers' unless the option to purchase would be denied on the platform.

Epic could have very clearly stated their plans, but instead have gone with this ambiguous marketing speak thing so as to not get themselves a bunch of backlash. Given that their consumers are smarter than their marketing department believes they are, apparently, all they've succeeded in doing is creating confusion and misunderstanding and tried to cover their asses as they try to get away with pulling another title from Steam.

If they had just said: 'We are excited to be bringing Rocket League to our Epic store, but will continue to sell and support the game on all other platforms as well.' there would have been absolutely zero confusion. Or if they'd just been honest that they're going to pull the title from Steam but will continue to support it with content and patches, that would have at least been honest and forward. Its pretty hard to argue that their goal was anything but trying to deliver a softball on them at least partially pulling the game from the Steam platform. That they tried to make it sound like anything else is disrespectful to their existing customers as well as future ones.

Aside: It's disheartening to see how difficult it is for several people in this thread to accept and respect the opinions of others without becoming angry or belligerent, and even going so far as insulting others.

If you can't handle someone else's opinion, it's often best to ignore it, rather than make yourself look like an ass.
