After rewatching some old movies this weekend I would like to ask: What is your favorite old movie? (1940's-2000) lets say.

One of my favorite movies growing up and that I rewatched was Stand By Me, with River Phoenix when he was a child. That movie is so real and brings out your emotions and keeps you gripped with happiness and sadness, and its just a roller coaster, but really holds a meaning to it. Another one of my favorites is The Naked Gun, a comedic detective spy movie that's always held a place in my heart. So the question stands, what is YOUR favorite old movie?

Watched Back to the Future again with my little son a while ago and from my pov it's one of the most perfect entertainment movies there is. When I read they wanted to make a remake (which turned out not to be true thankfully) I couldn't believe it as it would have been the most idiotic thing one could possibly do. The story, the pace, the humour is still perfect even though the movie is 35 years old. Part 2 and 3 are fun as well, but part 1 is one of the best movies ever made imo and it's an 80s movie that aged incredibly well.

The Thin Man with Myrna Loy and Willian Powell 1934 classic. Humorous mystery film. The whole series is good, but this is the first and best.

Grapes of Wrath (1940) is an old movie, but I was really impressed when I first saw it a few years ago. I even read the novel afterwards

Ikiru (1952).

An incredible movie by Akira Kurosawa. Very uplifting and the movie hasn't aged a bit in its criticism of modern society and bureaucracy. Watching it yearly has become one of my rituals.

Great pick, I really like most of Kurosawa's movies but I have to say my favourite is Yoidore Tenshi.

I'm not familiar with cinematography, but I like Halloween. A good time for horror, when you weren't scared by screamers
