That's it, which game/product/brand/company/you name it has the worst fanbase?

In my opinion, it would be Blizzard. I know it sounds hypocritical with Tracer both as avatar and steam name, but I swear to god that my interactions with the blizzard community have been dissapointing at best and downright infuriating at worst. It's just people singing praises towards them and treating Blizzard as if it was literally the 2nd coming of Jesus.

Apple, followed by a toss-up between Blizzard fanboys and Bethesda cultists. Valve groupies used to be the worst, but ever since Valve stopped making games, they gradually disappeared.

Well, then. My answer? People who spend time deciding who they hate more are more annoying than any fandom.

i hate the word fanboy and i would prefer we all stop using it. it is often used and understood in an offensive manner, and it just kills every serious discussion. i don't like that you disagree with me on something, so i just call you a fanboy and invalidate your opinion that way, instead of bringing any real arguments to the table!

It is used in an offensive manner, and stop policing my speech, prescriptivism is shite.

you can use whatever words you want. and i can tell you my opinion about it. and now stop policing my freedom of speech. ;)

the thing is, that most of the time people who are no fanboys are called fanboys.

Nah, fanboys are the ones that disregard any argument not fitting to their ideas and/or dismiss every valid criticism or they take analizing their object of fanboyism as a personal attack.

the problem starts when valid arguments get called fanboyism. by now i'd say this happens more often than the other way around.

but the Bro Code is not a real book...i hope. Nor are people obsessively trying to live like Barney Stinson, i think they understand its a joke character from a comedy series

I think the joke went a little too far, especially since some people are taking these advices

I would love to be able to agree with you but I've met various kinds of Stinson wannabes IRL. So sadly, he's got imitators.

I also thought the dudeism stuff was tongue-in-cheek, but it seems it's not, well...

To a degree it was culturally accepted D: I just remembered an old case from Italy (I guess, I'm fuzzy on details, it might've been 10 years ago or more), where some guy from my country has beaten his wife/concubine/whatever and I tried "cultural differences" defense in the court. 'cause "it's normal thing to do in Poland" :D
But I won't disagree that it being codified by religion is another tier of cringiness ;)

Depends on what you need. Unless you go for cutting edge or the most power-saving mini-PC budget possible, there are a few segments where they have the best solutions. And don't forget that they have a much larger share percentage in gaming machines than Intel + Nvidia combined. :)

Mad Max fanboys - "Spotlight? Mad Max is best movie! I only watch blockbuster movies, but any other movie is irrelevant."

Marvel fanboys - "This movie is not as funny as Marvel movies." "They talk too much, where's the action?"

Naught Dog fanboys - "Muh graphics and cinematic games" "My GOTY is better than your GOTY."

Bloodborne fanboys - "Bloodborne got robbed." "It's not a Souls game, it's a new IP."

Sony fanboys - "Look at all these weeboo exclusives that I'm not going to play, but are not on Xbone or PC."

Console fanboys - "PC is too hard." "I play on a couch/controller." "I'm already on a PC at work."

I'm going to counter this..name one fanbase that aren't bad. So far I haven't come across any. I myself am a fan of many things and don't really care if people talk bad about anything I like. Fanboys go crazy if you say one bad thing.

Overkill Studios fans are the worst!!

Sure, Overkill made a great game series with Payday. Still to this day, one of my all time favorite co-op games around! But the way they have been handling Payday 2 is just god awful and I can't see how anyone can stand in their corner and defend them anymore.

Sure, early on, it was understandable how fans would defend them, but after all the back peddling they have done, milking the community with bad DLCs, lack of support for consoles, broken promises, how they use their community for advertisements for other games and movies, and a long list of other things. How do people still defend them?!?

If someone in the community calls them out on anything, fans step up. Want to say something about how bad the DLCs are? Fans will jump down your throat that you are just poor and can't afford to buy DLC. Don't like the way they handle the consoles? Fans will be all over you about how "PC Master Race" and how you are playing it wrong if you have it on a console. Have a problem with how they claimed they never would add microtransactions and then they did? Well, times are a changing and Overkill just had to do it in order to continue the game... even though they can pour millions into their own VR set and new games. Seems like no matter what big or little problem you have with the game or developer, the fans are waiting in troves to just rip you apart.

Amazing game, but damn are the fanboys just insane! Sometimes I wish I had never helped support them for as long as I have!

sports fanboys are the worst, I don't like football because i find it lame how so many people get hyped for watching guys running/kicking a ball, like i understand that they enjoy it and i don't judge no one for doing it but when i see someone watching football and yelling at a tv... guess i fell like some people that complain why people watch gameplay videos on youtube, haha
anyway! it's a huge fanboy crowd and everywhere i go there's one of them, once i was on facebook and got this guy that posted football news and attached my name on it (for no reason apparently) something about my country's team flying to get to a match with another country, i had such a bad day that i just replied "couldn't care less" and a minute later got a reply from that same guy, he was so angry but i guess that he didnt have anything to pick up a "fight" with me so he start shit-talking trying to upset me, also he was talking about the football club like if it was soldiers sent to battle, like to die level so in that day i learned that the angry fanboys are out there somewhere and they are mad!

oh! also found some of those fanboys in real life, when i say that i don't like football they sometimes even ask me if i'm gay (because football is 100% related with sexual orientation) like these are the people watching men kicking and running after balls, they know all their names and some of them even have posters on their bedrooms and even copy haircuts... of other men... and these people call me gay... if only they could see the level of hypocricy...
who knows, maybe i would have enjoyed football as much as the next guy if these people didnt exist

anyway here's a gif of how i feel when a football fanboy asks me if i'm gay just because i don't like football
