Whenever anyone brings up Metacritic on here, it's almost immediately put down as meaningless.

So I thought I would ask...

Does anyone here have game that they absolutely love that has a low Metacritic score?

I don't usually care about metacritics, so I don't even know which of my games have low score.

It's on the Steam store page for every single game they sell that has been reviewed. You can also see the user score there if you have http://www.enhancedsteam.com/ installed

I just went to my library page on steam and clicked on "List View" and then sorted by metacritic score

Same here, actually. It wasn't the best game I've ever played, but I legitimately enjoyed it.

I loved Analogue: A Hate Story, and that had a score of 62 (though the user score is a much more respectable 82).

Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army is pretty fun in co-op... That's the only one I can think of.

Rogue Warrior. Aside from the lame credits music it's a solid game. Not a ground breaker by any means, but I've played far worse.

I liked the new Star Trek game. I mean it was pretty generic and it had a few bugs, but I thought it was campy and fun, especially in co-op. For those who didn't click the link, it got a 44.

Depends what one considers to be "low", but it was Analogue: A Hate Story that finally convinced me to never, ever trust professional critics. Metacritic gave the game 62/100 based on five professional reviews: two positive, two mixed, and one negative. On the other hand, 55 Metacritic users ranked the game much, much higher (as would I if I were ever inclined to rate it). Analogue holds a Metacritic user score of 8.8/10 based on 55 ratings, and of the 25 posted user reviews, 24 are positive, and one is mixed.

In other words, critics are idiots and don't deserve their paycheques.

They're not idiots, their opinions will always be biased because they pay them to do so, and trust me I know about this because I have a friend who works in this stuff.

No no, these whose opinion disagree with mine are just "fools", "idiots" is usualy reserved for critics and very special fools =D

I'm not calling them idiots because they disagree with me, but because they're being paid to critically review games with the (theoretical) intention that their ideas should be able to help people decide whether or not the game is worth playing, and yet their views are clearly out of touch with the people who are playing the game.

Marvel Heroes has a score of 58 and I have enjoyed it fairly well(currently 3rd in most hours logged for me on steam and could easily get into second place with time). I suspect much of the low score is due to the micro-transaction and drop systems at launch when most reviews get published.

That depends pretty heavily on what you consider "low". Are you grading this on a kind of "50 is mediocre and not noteworthy" scale, or the weird "75 is average, 80 is good" scale that people seem to buy into?

Metacritic has their own scale on how to interpret ratings.

I first met Postal 2 when I was ~8 years old, I'm not sure if I'm mentally fine now.
Anyway, it's freakin' good. Also, the AWP mod, Eternal Damnation and A Very Postal Christmas - compared to these, Postal 2 is a game for kids.

Oh, I didn't play it when I was 8, I just watched my brother play it back then. But, you know, even watching is a bit too much for a child.

Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter. For some reason it has a 68. I think it's low.

The other game lower which i don't get is Sonic 4 EP II. It has a 54. The game is not that terrible.

Chaos Legion is one off the top of my head, its almost like the reviewers didn't get past level 3 which would not surprise me since it was one of the harder games on PS2.

Shinobi for PS2 from what I recall, another one of the hardest games on PS2(Think IGN admitted to breaking controllers during the review).
