What was the first online game you ever played?

DDtank, a browser turn-based shooting/strategy game. I was pretty good at it, after 2 years of playing the game, I managed to reach the top 1 in a server. it's a pay-to-win game but I can keep a strong build because I can win the tournament every week. Can also win cross-server matches who are stronger / higher level players. my proudest moment in an online game. But then I quit because the game is becoming more and more money-hungry, and I don't want to spend too much money on it.

QUAKE(WORLD), from what I can recall.
I was never much into online gaming. but that was one of the only games I played around 98-99, due to playing a lot of LAN games at the time as well.

Most likely the first Quake, over QuakeSpy. I also played Diablo 1 early on, but I'm almost certain I played Quake 1 before that.

Probably Runescape. The ancient Runescape where the characters were 2D and looked like they were made in paint.

First online games I can remember playing were MUDs. First one of those I played was 3Kingdoms (3k for short) and it's spin-off 3Scapes.
