You can't get keys for it AFAIK, only compendium owners are granted the game in their library. you have to wait until they release it for alpha

I haven't played many Valve games so I wasn't aware of Dota Auto Chess till just now.
I recall something about a game called Auto Chess by the creators of Dragonquest couldn't come to an agreement with Valve to launch on Steam so they went to the Epic Games Store instead(now that I see there's a Dota Auto Chess I can see why that may have happened). I also saw the other day Riot released Team Fight Tactics which I guess is sort of the same thing. Both seem to be doing extremely well and have been in the spotlight.
So was Dota Underloards planned for a long time? or is this something that was made a priority due to the spotlight being shined on Auto Chess and Team Fight Tactics atm?
I've never played any of these auto chess games but they look like fun.

Valve first approached the creators of the original Auto Chess, but seemingly they couldn't come to an agreement, so Valve was given permission to make their own Auto Chess game.
If some game makers decided to go with EGS instead I very much doubt it was because Valve wouldn't let them have their take on Auto Chess on the Steam store.
If there was any truth to that, then how come there is no dearth of MOBAs and Portal-likes on Steam?
