Is there a way to fake the snooze in friends list?

I'm not aware of such, but using Offline is possible if you just don't want to chat.

You can have Steam open up an application called snooze, but that's as close as you can get as far as I'm aware.

Yeah, I bet so. And even if there is no such thing on the mighty Google it shouldn't be a problem to code it.

The amount of privacy paranoia (not sure how else to call it) i see on Steam lately is somewhat concerning. Nothing against you OP, but the topic made me think about it.

If it's about someone specific, just be honest with people if you're not in the mood to talk or busy.

Well, you have Busy, Away, and Offline.

Maybe valve could add "snooze with one eye open and looking at you"

You can always close the freaking Friends chat.

Unfriending them is always an option.
