You can go to https://store.steampowered.com/account/notificationsettings in your browser. You can enable/disable notifications in client and app, and the changes save.
Finally I can stop receiving wishlist games on sale and have the other notifications; I think I'll keep receiving the notifications via email.
I do hope they'll not make the website look and behave like the client for notifications, btw.
Edit: you can also change it on "Parameters" in the client, and it seems to work.

new steam uses 82% of my laptops cpu well doing nothing. its fucked....

Seems like the copy paste function is gone when adding a game key. I had to do manually for 2 games and also the pop up window can not be moved outside of the client. That is my biggest complaint so far

Right click copy paste didn't work for me. But the keyboard shortcuts worked fine.

Thats why i created GA of Anomaly: Warzone Earth cuz i got is as random key and Steam told me its Anomaly when i tried to activate

You need the steamdb extension for your browser and activate the key through steam's site https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey
If you already own the game or the key is duped it will tell you the name of the game

I kinda like this one more. More functionality, looks better and while buggy, it's still just as buggy as the Steam client's always been (a.k.a. embarrassingly buggy). Especially the fact that the browser finally works instead of breaking for any website that was updated after 2016.
Although I get people wanting to go back to the old stuff since as awful as it was on its own right, it still has a comfy feel to it.

I like the vast majority of the new UI update, especially the settings window and the new overlay. I just finished playing the System Shock Remake, and having the note functionality where you can save websites/notes/images right there within a game is brilliant. As someone who jumps around from game to game a lot, being able to keep notes attached to the actual games is a godsend.
The new smaller and darker notifications are great too. Way less intrusive than how they were previously.
Overall, this is probably the one Steam update where I feel like it's an improvement overall. And sure, it a shame that themes and customization options are missing for those that enjoyed to use that - hopefully something that comes back at some point.

I was just thinking about how this is probably the first Steam update that I took positively from the get-go, since I'm usually in the "change is bad!" crowd. I immediately liked the ability to create notes in the overlay that you could then pin, that's an incredibly useful feature to have when you need to do some busy work in games. The achievement tab looks off but I can get used to it. The notifications is awkward, like many others I also can't stand that they're by default trying to alert you about wishlist sales. However I'd like the feature if you could select when such wishlist alert happens, such as setting it to alert only if a wishlisted game is 80% off.
The thing I really loathe is the changes to the screenshot uploader. When trying to upload, the default setting is for them to be posted as private and I can't for the life of me understand why they'd do this. Another thing is that after uploading, the screenshot view re-arranges itself so that those uploaded will move to the top. The window also "soft refreshes" at this point and thus makes you lose your place in where you were, which is annoying if you're trying to go through a lot shots.
And finally the update is clearly not stable, I've had Steam or Steam web helper crash several times already.

More customization would be very much appreciated, the new UI does not work well for my eyesight.
Fonts are either too large or too small and when they're large several elements such as the system tray menu go off-screen. I never had that problem with the old UI.

Valve removed custom skins, but never made it possible to turn off achievement notifications (and generally disable with one button all notifications during the game , for reliability). I made myself a skin (changed a couple lines of code, lol) many years ago that just removed these features and enjoyed the game without those pop-ups. And I highly doubt that Valve will ever allow this to be do it in the settings without completely disabling the overlay.

Honestly, part of why I'm so reluctant to close my client is because who knows if all hell breaks loose with the next update, lol. (Yes, I realize that keeping things up to date can be very important security-wise...)
I mean you can get used to everything; I remember missing whatever the library looked like before they introduced "collections" but now I don't even remember what that was like anymore. I do remember being annoyed that the new update did poorly for games that had been out for a while where the devs were not around for updating with new library thumbnails though, so you'd still see the old-sized ones with enough colour blur to fill the size of the new ones. Like of all the things to require, why make it so that older games with inactive devs look ugly amidst the ones with updated thumbnails. Minor nitpick, but eh.
I'm still beefing with the dynamic collections because while it does work for games with Trading Cards or Achievements for example, I noticed that games where these features are not advertised in the Steam Store will not be automatically added to these collections. It might be a simple as the devs ticking a box somewhere (I know not) to change this. Again a minor nitpick.
Suffice it to say every update is a minor anxiety attack. Usually without further consequences, but you never know lol.

And yet they haven’t addressed the most needed, and simplest, issue - nesting categories/folders for sorting games. It’s great that you can group games, but when so many of us have hundreds, if not thousands of games, a single category layer doesn’t cut it
