Your Steam profile doesn't tell me which country you're in, but here is what I would do in the U.S.

  1. Go to an electronics store (e.g. Radio Shack).
  2. Tell them you want to feed your PC's video to a TV (tell them which type of TV).
  3. Find out which piece of hardware you need.
  4. Decide whether you want to buy it from the store or shop for it online.
  5. Install your hardware when you get it.

Most TV's, these days, have RCA jacks for video, and I know for a fact that it is possible to output video via those jacks from your PC. Some video cards have RCA plugs, some do not, but a conversion card should be fairly cheap.

A legacy (even used) VGA to S-Video adapter should work on your 9400 and it isn't really that expensive. You can probably get it for <$5 online. The question is why you'd want to use your CRT as a computer display. The image quality is going to be hideous. Such a setup was only marginally useful to view DVDs at 720x576 and it still wasn't really good enough.

Some more info on what you're trying to accomplish?

That's what your monitor is for. The picture quality will be much better even if it has a smaller screen than your TV. There's a reason why there aren't many stories on the internet about people who hook their PC to their CRT TV.

Man, you don't know the whole context, most likely he has reasons for this.

I'm sure he does but I also don't think that he will be satisfied with the results. It's going to look like crap. He would be better off burning the movie to DVD and watching it that way though the quality will still be mediocre.

I used to do that. Was easier to watch movies from bed that way.
