With Steam Big Picture out, I was really looking into the idea of getting a gaming controller for my computer. I mean, I'm not going to use it for hardcore gaming, but it would definitely be nice to sit back and relax and just have fun playing some casual games. I have seen the regular Microsoft Wired Controller, the Razer Onza & the Logitech F710. Are there any really good choices for gaming controllers regarding the PC world? I would (like anybody else) keep price to a minimum.

get an xbox WIRED controller if you can - saves you on batt money. further, given that your cpu is most likely going to be right next to you when you play, the wireless function isn't going to be that useful to you.

Well for me, I run most of my battery-powered electronics on Rechargable batteries, so purchasing new batteries is not a worry for me.

I've had Xbox 360 Controllers, but I feel like the controller can get worn out easily. My family has gone through many controllers. Sometimes the 'X' and the 'Home' buttons get stuck, or the Analog sticks lose their rubbery grips and slows down. Maybe my brothers can't handle the controllers that well (they rage a lot), or that's just how an Xbox controller works.

hmm, I guess they use it a lot or really press on the buttons. Mine has had no problems so far.

I use the DS3 Tool to allow me to use PS3 controllers so I have two of them paired wirelessly via bluetooth. The DS3 tool allows you to run the controller in Xinput (xbox 360 controller mode), Dinput (DirectX), or just emulate a KB/Mouse, its realy an all in one solution and it even supports the six-axis and rumbling.

So you could just use your PS3 controller and easily connect it with no adapters or anything? That must be great for PS3 owners who PC game too.

I use the program DS3 Tool by MotionJoy to emulate it as a 360 controller and it works perfect for everything.

I use a generic USB controller that cost about 5USD. Used x360ce to get games working with it 100% no issue as a 360 pad. It's rock solid.

Just picked up a generic wireless USB controller today for 8.5USD. Same quality, same procedure. Brand doesn't really matter imho.

I've only ever used the Logictech F710, It's done the trick for every game I've played. And it has a wireless receiver.
