Honestly, i do think this would work best for everyone. I do hate one fact that giveaways that are about to end (let's say, on their last 10 minutes) and the entries amount almost go double on those last 10 minutes...

My suggestion is that, if it's anyway possible to make an entry limit for people. Say, people have the option to pick from 50-5k entries, and of course unlimited entries. Or make something like a time limit for entries, eg: someone starts a 4 hour giveaway, entries can only be made for about 2 hours after the giveaway was started, any entries after 2 hours are blocked/ignored.

Discuss, would this be better or not? I don't see anything bad/evil coming from it since people could still put unlimited entries, but it would indeed make things alot better for everyone in some giveaways.

Also, im fairly new to this steamgifts thing... if im missing something please do tell me, it's been like 2 hours since i subscribed to this website :)

I agree. You should make it so that only a few dozen people can enter each giveaway.

This would incentivize the creation of bots to automatically enter desirable giveaways before everyone else, thus giving us programming-savvy folk an extra edge. This is a good thing because if benefits me, and probably some other people, but they aren't me so I don't care about them.

(For the dense: this is a terrible terrible idea what were you thinking)

That's true... I thought about the same thing above, without having bots in mind...

You know, instead of creating a 4 hour giveaway, which is locked down after 2 hours, why not create a 2 hour giveaway in the first place?
Yeah and about the entry limit... basically what lunboks said.
The thing, that makes this site so great, is that everybody has the same chance and I hope it will be kept this way.
I really hate it, when devs do giveaways somewhere else, by posting a few keys, which are always taken by bots/guys who have no social live.

The way the site works at the moment is really neat. It's absolutely fair, everyone has the exact same chance and there are no rewards for permanently lurking, mining or generally having no life ... I was wondering when someone would think of ways to "improve" on that.

"eg: someone starts a 4 hour giveaway, entries can only be made for about 2 hours after the giveaway was started, any entries after 2 hours are blocked/ignored."

Then what's the point of having the extra 2 hours? Why not end the giveaway right away?

The giveaway should just end at 2 hours then...Dumb idea.

The rest is cool though.
