This is huge news:

Introducing GOG Connect
GOG Connect

Important: You can connect only one Steam account with your GOG.com library. This process is permanent – choose wisely!

Important 2: If you own some of the games and Connect doesn't recognize them, press the Refresh button and wait a while (can be a few minutes, hours or even a day). The reason for this is that GOG is using the Steam API to scan your Steam library and the API has a limit on the number of calls it can make for a given period of time. If you're still having problems, refresh your GOG account (simply clicking the link is enough; this is different that the Refresh button on the GOG Connect page!).

Important 3: In case you are still getting the message "Due to exceedingly high demand this may take up to several days, please check back later. Thank you for your patience." after waiting a while and trying the account refresh link above, then it would be a good idea to contact GOG support. Many users have reported that their problem was fixed quickly after that.

Connect your Steam account and grow or jumpstart your GOG.com library.

Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.

Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?

While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

I really hope more games are made available, because this could raise GOG's popularity significantly!

Fun, looks like I'm only missing Project Zomboid and The Witness... Good thing I'm not a GOG game junkie, it's enough trouble pointlessly accumulating Steam games... :)

Anyone know if there is only one chance to add games? It didn't pick up The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, or Saints Row 2... now I only get "NO ELIGIBLE GAMES FOUND" (besides the 10 already added).

Edit: of course it works right after I posted this :-/

If you want a good laugh, visit the GOG Connect thread over on the GOG forums.

I have NEVER seen people who play video games be so ignorant... and paranoid... about technology.

Summary: I'm putting on my tinfoil hat because I'm afraid that Steam is getting it's claws into GOG and if I connect my accounts does Steam get all my info and I'm SO uncomfortable making my Steam profile public, why do I have to do that and what's Steam getting out of this will they shut down GOG?

-sigh-

Many of those GOG crowds are bunch of morons.

Even Steam silly fanboys still have logic.

Under my experience GOG forums has been friendly and useful, specially The Witcher and The witcher 2 subforums.

I just got Surgeon Simulator (only game). Why didn't my initial connect (I got Xenosaut + others) give me this as well? Is it an added game? I thought the new roster will be unveiled at least two more days?

They added it later. I'm guessing it might not be new games every X days.

Is this a limited time offer? is it worth the shot if the games gained at GOG are barely a couple to work your account?

I believe the "connect program" will last for a while ( could be month, could be year). However list of games that are eligible for the program is changing somewhat daily ( they add new games and remove some games form list pretty frequently).

Is it worth to connect steam with GOG? Sounds a lame question but what if it complicates things later? Being cynical I guess......

The account link is permanent so if you changed accounts on either end for some reason you may have issues? Otherwise I can't see any downside to it.

One last query - Will new games added to list add eligible items as and when GOG adds games daily or is it purely on the day you connect and limited list for that day?

If you later come to own more of the eligible games on Steam, or if the set of eligible games changes and you own some of the new ones, then you can go back to https://www.gog.com/connect and press the white "Refresh" button and it will check your account again. You can do this at any time.

It looks like the games don't change daily after all - we're still on the initial 22 games plus Surgeon Simulator. They were originally meant to stay available for 5 days but I suspect that may be extended to give everyone chance. (GOG internally queues every request for a Steam account scan, and it initially took several hours to get to the front of the queue. Now it's much faster - just a few seconds).

Can't this be abused by linking a friend's steam account to your gog account so you can play his games?

Well I already linked my own account. I doubt they'd ever share expensive/new games so it's kinda useless.

Not everyone dislikes and not plays games just because they may cost under 60 dollars or be more than a week old…

Everyone can afford a 2$ game and they don't need to abuse some system to play a 2$ game, also I wouldn't call an 8 year old game "a week old"
