Ahh, you get around 100 points for every dollar you spend. A full day's salary for me is around 30 USD. :)

Actually, yes lol... I graduated last October and it's a pretty good salary for someone who just graduated. Minimum wage here is 10 USD per day. (in the capital, no less. In the rural areas it's 6 USD per day) 😅

When was the last time you bought a game on Steam? The overview says purchases made after Lunar New Year sale earn points.
You can also get Steam Points if someone from the community grants an award to one of your user reviews or other uploaded content such as screenshots, videos, guides, or Workshop items.

There's also many others which can get VERY expensive if you add all the DLCs, like Dead or Alive 6 (the store page can't even show all 460 DLCs), and I remember some very bad indie games which had pretty expensive DLCs, but I completely forgot their name...I hope they're not on Steam anymore.
Then there's the in-app purchases, which doesn't have any limit, but I'm not sure if that counts for the Steam points.

Yes you can, other users can give you points via "awards" on your comunity content. Each award grants you 100 points.
