Not that way... let me explain.

A friend of mine created a Xbox Live account using an email and password that doesn't remember. He doesn't remember the secret question either. But he is currently logged in the account on his Xbox 360 and he is currently paying a Gold suscription. He don't want to continue paying Gold, and he don't know what to do to cancel the suscription, lol.

He (obviously) have the credit card information.

Your "friend" is an idiot and is not being fucked over

That. It's being fucked over if its the fault of the company. In this case, he's just an idiot and should lose money for being that stupid.

Your friend should suffer of a serious disease if he can't found these kind of informations as easy to find for cancel his subscription.

http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing-and-subscriptions/subscription-management/cancel-xbox-live-gold-subscription

When he'll call them, the support can may need his identity card and his credit card informations (some of them). If they don't want cancel the subscription, he should call his bank in order to cancel his subscription.

Don't be dicks guys; he's not necessarily an idiot. He just forgot which e-mail and password he used to sign up; does he really deserve to lose money because he's forgetful? E.g. I forgot my Windows Live login/password between installing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City; if you're not actively entering login credentials regularly, it's real easy to forget them.

Yeah, so much hate. Don't you guys have better things to do than run around on rampage calling people idiots?

I recommend LastPass.com for password-keeping. It also allows you to generate random passwords for every website you use, and will autofill them in the browser if you have the extension installed. This is important because if your password is discovered (the frequency at which account databases are getting leaked on the Internet is increasing; just ask LinkedIn how they're doing), anyone trying to mess with you will immediately start trying other common services (like gmail!) with that email address/password combination, and if you're like most people and only remember a couple passwords at best (and I'm not even counting people who use 123456), you're hosed, even if your email account is being properly protected otherwise.

LastPass also can store secure notes, so even if it isn't a random password, you're fine. I had to set up secret questions for my banking, and they were things that are publically available, like... where was my father born? So rather than answer the question straight up, I made a LastPass note to keep track of what things were supposed to be, and then generated random crap like "58r3#gXS#!19Ql2hKW^WVP@JnX". Yeah, let's see someone guess THAT for the high school I graduated from.

Disclaimer: I don't work for LastPass or anything, I'm just a satisfied user. They have built their security properly, as well; everything is encrypted, using your passphrase as part of the key, before it leaves your computer. Note that you DO have to remember your LastPass master password, because LastPass does not know what it is and cannot give you a password reset. The exception is that the extensions do carry a disabled one-time password in case of brain farts.

Forgetting a password isn't being an idiot.

Not thinking of a way to solve this (use Google? contact support? block the CC payments even?) and claiming he's getting screwed for something that's his own fault however, is being an idiot.

I'm worried that he seems to be allowed to have a credit card, but he needs someone else to tell him to call Customer Service instead of just panicking and throwing the Xbox off a bridge in hopes that Microsoft will automatically know that he got rid of it and stop charging him.

Call the support, or can't he even remember his credit card number? That would make him a moron (: .

If he can't remember the details of his own account, it's more his fault than anyone else's. Isn't there an option to cancel a subscription on 'dashboard' somewhere anyhow? If he's already logged in, doing that shouldn't be a problem I don't think.

Nope, you can only cancel the suscription logged in your account from a PC. He have the credit card information.

This isn't rocket science. Just call your credit card company.

I'd contact Microsoft first. If Microsoft won't help him because he can't even tell them his own name and credit card number, then a) he has big problems, and b) that'd be when calling the credit card company would be the most efficient.

It will be very efficient if he doesn't know his credit card number.

I agree, have him call Microsoft and pretend to be a normal human being, or get the help of one.

now is this a friend or "i got a friend" (yourself)? but they could always cancel their card and get a new one which would stop the billing for gold unless they set it up by check. calling support is just too simple but always a good first opinion.

good luck

(that's why i only give Sony psn cards when i do business with them)

And considering that Microsoft will almost certainly not give him any refunds for what he's already paid, he can call that tuition in the school of wake the fuck up and take adult responsibility for your shit.

How's that being fucked by Microsoft? If he doesn't remember the accont details, his bad. If Microsoft refuses do to something about it, then you'll be right to say he's being fucked by them.

Call xbox live support. ask for gold bricks to be removed from the inside of his xbox... no, just call microsoft and tell them the xbox is possessed and is playing games on its own.

lol, really. Look:

HE DOESN'T HAVE ACCESS AT ALL TO THE XBOX LIVE ACCOUNT.
But he is still logged in the account on the Xbox 360 Console, but in the settings he CAN'T cancel the suscription. So I guess I will tell him to call Microsoft and ask for the cancellation of the suscription, if he give to Microsoft the last 4 digits of the credit card they will be able to do that?
