I've noticed a lot more people posting referral links in their giveaway descriptions recently. I know they aren't allowed in the forums but what is SG's stance on them being posted in this way? They are usually posted in a "Help me get more money to make more giveaways" kinda wording.

It's against the rules, but the site that is really spammed of these is Gala Giveaways. Probably the same ppl coming from there.

Do the report with link to giveaway.
Wait to see staff answer.
Profit.

Way to increase the workload of the staff. It's not like legit issues have 3-4 weeks of waiting time already.

I don't have a problem with referal links in giveaways. You are not forced to click on the link to enter the giveaway. It's not advertisment/spam because there is a giveaway attached to it. Unlike a forum referal link that may lead you over an ad-site to enter the giveaway it's a complete non-issue, at least for me. It's even another reason why people create more giveaways - to advertise their youtube / game / group / whatever.

They are breaking the rules, however you might feel about them. They are to be reported.

Yes, by hitting the button on the giveaway, though. He's absolutely right about frivolous report tickets about giveaways wasting our time. Unfortunately, I'm informed people keep submitting them anyway, even when told directly to stop. Probably half of all submitted report tickets are frivolous, and most of those are reporting giveaways. I don't mean to single you out for any reason; I just needed to vent that.

Report giveaway has sense? Isn't the appropriate way to click user report user, mark referral link as reason and put giveaway as link?
Instead of putting "he" is better put the nick, for me it's much more clear to understand. You could also do a more direct answer to Op question :-)

Report giveaway button reports the giveaway so we'll check the description too.

If a referral link was somewhere in the comments of a giveaway or the forum, I understand why it would require you to report the user instead.

Example : Someone puts a referral link on a giveaway description. 20 people decide to report the user. That means we get 20 tickets about the user. If those 20 people just hit the report giveaway button instead, we get one notification that shows how many people reported it.

I've never been told to stop, but I have noticed you never do anything regarding other than reply "thanks" when I submit "fake GA" reports. I will refrain from submitting anymore in the future. Thank you for your efforts with the site.

Just wondering but what do you mean "never do anything"? You are not supposed to be notified of the actions taken, thus the thanks on almost all reports.

I've seen users reopen tickets with the same justification, thus I ask, don't get me wrong.

Hey, I don't check the forum too often because I'm busy with tickets and other stuff most of the time. Yes, the report button on giveaways flags them and adds them to a list we can see where they are organized according to how many reports they've gotten. We can check them there, so we don't really need tickets on them.

As you mentioned, we often don't do anything while the giveaway is running, because there's usually not a way to tell for sure there's something wrong unless it's mentioned in the description. We usually end up catching these on the back end after they've finished.

Thanks!

Those reports are still useful because we typically leave them until the giveaways run their course, then handle them after depending on what feedback is given for the gift.

No worries. I use that button unless going after a certain user anyway. The button is there, after all.

I wrote that because that's the way to get an official answer.
Reporting someone because he is using referral links when staff can check it, seems legit report.

I can understand if a place is trying to drum up business, it's basic marketing. But I hate the sob story ones like "my house just burned down and I need money! click here to give me money!", though they don't say it like that exactly but that's what they mean.

If you see one of those on a description, report the giveaway. They are not allowed, as mentioned earlier.
